Last October 27, 2018 the preschool to grade 3 pupils of St. Francis Cainta celebrated Scouting Month with half a days’ worth of games and activities. The first part of the event is the presentation of their patrol yell where they express the virtues of becoming a good scout through coordinated marches, cheers, and dance moves - a routine they practiced for many days. The next part of the event is the Scout Olympics which is a series of fun games to test and develop the important characteristics of scouting such as teamwork, patience, awareness, and a strong character.
Parents were encouraged to let their children go by themselves with only their patrol mates and scout masters to encourage independence - an important characteristic needed to become successful in life.
All in all it was a lively event with the little scouts enjoying themselves while having fun learning the fundamental skills and values of scouting

A glider and Bellanca Scout flying in formation. Was a fun ride, I got to fly lead so it was even easy :)
Barry and I were due to shoot with a model, but due to some unpredictable weather, we ended up location scouting and using each other as placeholder models! Fun times :)
Scout is a rescue dog from a reserve near Rainbow Lake. I was doing an artist's residency in 2004, teaching handbuilding with clay. I saw a young dog running around and was asked by a teacher if I could take him or he would meet the same fate that his littermates and his Mom did. He and Charlie, my other rescue dog, got along great so I brought him home with me.
Stopping in Edmonton on the way home I took Scout to a dog groomer. He had to have five baths. He has been a faithful and loyal companion for the past nine years and travels with me wherever I go. He and Charlie have remained the best of friends and look out for one another.

This photo was taken during the W5B conclave that took place on August 15 - 17, 2008 at Camp Tahosa near Ward, Co nestled in the Rocky Mountains west of Boulder, Co.
These scouts salute as the national colors are lowered for the day just prior to the evening meal. Scouts of all shapes, sizes, ages and backgrounds assemble to show their respect to our nation at this tradtional event. This photo strikes me in that the 'imperfectness' of the scouts makes it real, genuine.
March 10 through March 13 2019. This hands-on resident camp allows girls ages 14 to 18 to participate in a variety of activities which build leadership, self-confidence, and respect through teamwork. The camp is supported by the Girl Scouts, in partnership with Public Safety, Police and Fire/Medical Departments from across the valley.
