Switching to a CMOS-based 555 chip (here a TS555IN) gives nearly perfect square waves at about 83 kHz, compared to about 75 kHz using the same circuit and a regular NE555. Frequency in Hz from inverse of (2 microseconds per division * 6 divisions for a wavelength) - confirmed by frequency count on a digital multimeter.

It also reduced current consumption from about 9 millamps to about 1.5 milliamps.

The McMath-Pierce Solar Telescope at Kitt Peak, Arizona. The vertical section is almost 100 feet high, "from which a shaft slants two hundred feet to the ground. The shaft continues into the mountain, forming an underground tunnel where the sun is viewed at the prime focus."

SCOPE merges the basic characteristics of video games and real-life toys to improve existing games or create new ones. By attributing various virtual parameters commonly used in video games (power, life, magic, experience, attack, weapons, etc.) to tangible toys, it brings the toys to life. With this approach, it is possible to create all sorts of video game concepts mixed with the real world. For example, a child’s bedroom could become a natural battleground for play.
