I'm really tired by now. Tired of the whole pandemic and the whole chaos of measures. And yet I'm so naive and hope that it will all end soon and we will return to normality. Certainly not today or tomorrow, but hopefully next year.

Ich bin mittlerweile echt müde. Müde von der ganzen Pandemie und den ganzen Maßnahmen-Chaos. Und dennoch bin ich so naiv und hoffe darauf, dass das alles bald ein Ende hat und wir zur Normalität zurückkehren. Bestimmt nicht heute oder morgen, aber hoffentlich im nächsten Jahr.

So, jetzt bin ich wieder zurück :) War ein bisschen im Urlaub und unter anderem auch in Berlin. Dort habe ich auch das alte Olympiastadion besucht.
So, now I'm back again :) Was a bit on vacation and also in Berlin. There I visited the old Olympic Stadium.

Door grazen en vertrappelen veroorzaken Canadese ganzen schade aan gewassen en graslanden in landbouw-, recreatie- en natuurgebied. Door hun mest vervuilen ze ook zwemwaters en plassen. De aanwezigheid van Canadese ganzen hypothekeert soms ook natuurherstelprojecten. De soort wordt daarom in België en Nederland vaak beschouwd als een invasieve soort. De populatie wordt op veel plaatsen in de wereld beheerd.

I'm currently listening to a lot of audio books on various topics. I really enjoy broadening my horizons and breaking out of the subjective "thought prison". I think that the image fits very well when you consider how you are sometimes so limited in your own thinking and actions 🤔
Aktuell höre ich sehr viele Hörbücher über verschiedene Themen. Es macht mir echt viel Spaß meinen Horizont zu erweitern und aus dem subjektiven "Gedankengefängnis" auszubrechen. Ich finde, dass das Bild da sehr gut passt, wenn man bedenkt, wie man manchmal so beschränkt im eigenen Denken und Handeln ist 🤔

Das ist das alte Schachbrett meines Großvaters. Ich kann zwar nicht Schach spielen, aber ich wollte schon immer mal ein Foto mit den Figuren machen. Für mich ist dies auch eine schöne Erinnerung an ihn.
This is my grandfather's old chessboard. I don't know how to play chess, but I always wanted to take a photo with the pawns. For me, this is also a nice memory of him.

Hoffentlich wird es auch für Flickr ein besseres Jahr. Es wäre wirklich sehr schade, wenn es hier nicht weiter geht weil es an Pro-Mitgliedern fehlt. So stand es jedenfalls in der Mail, die wir alle bekommen haben. Ich würde die vielen netten Kontakte hier jedenfalls sehr vermissen.

Schade, dass es in Strömen regnete, kein gutes Foto, aber OK!
Am Wochenende wurde die neue Station der Linie U4 in Hamburg feierlich eröffnet. Jeden Abend gab es ein wirklich schönes Lichtspektakel. Schade nur, dass es so kalt, windig und regnerisch war.
Last weekend our new underground station of the line U4 in Hamburg was celebratory opend, each day with a great lightshow. Unfortunately the weather was cold, windy and rainy.
Dieses ist ein Archivbild vom Hamburger Hafengeburtstag. Letzte Woche wäre der 831. Hafengeburtstag gewesen, aber der wurde wegen Corona natürlich abgesagt.
Ich mag Dieses Gewusel an Schiffen auf der Elbe. Schon toll, wie die regulären Personenfähren sich da noch durch schlängeln.Schon schade, dass die meisten Feste dieses Jahr ausfallen.
This is an archive picture from the Port of Hamburg's birthday. Last week would have been the 831st port birthday, but of course it was canceled because of Corona.
I like this bustle of ships on the Elbe. It's great how the regular passenger ferries wind their way through, and it's a shame that most of the festivals are canceled this year.

In de nacht van 4 op 5 juli 2023 is Nederland getroffen door de zwaarste zomerstorm sinds we dit meten.
In de middag ben ik even naar het strand gegaan om te kijken hoe groot de schade was.
De storm was geslonken tot een behoorlijke wind. Donkere wolken trokken langzaam weg.

Vervolgens viel er 2,5 uur lang eigenlijk niks te beleven in het Maintal. Sowieso was het vrij rustig qua verkeer, al reden er gelukkig wel enkele highlights. Wellicht dat het hoge water van 2 weken eerder nog parten speelde (zo viel mijn trein uit Kreuztal voor de 3e keer uit vanwege schade aan het spoor), of was het de zomervakantie die toch al wat invloed had.
Desondanks kon de 193 878 "Wir brennen für das was wir tun" van TX Logistik in Wernfeld worden gefotografeerd met trein 43151 uit Keulen Eifeltor naar Verona. Voor mij werd het inmiddels al de 7e foto van deze fraaie loc.

Heute um 13.30 Uhr wären wir mit United Airlines nach San Francisco geflogen. Vier Wochen Rundreise im Südwesten waren geplant ......

Da Euch das Schloss Moritzburg so gut gefallen hat, kriegt Ihr noch eine Zugabe, die ich zwei tollen leider abhanden gekommenen Flickr-Fotografen widmen möchte, die heute Geburtstag haben:
d.h. dem unbeschreiblich großartigen befreundeten Fotografen Thorsten (ich weiß, wenn's Sören nicht geschafft hat, dich zurückzukriegen, schaffe ich es auch nicht :(, hoffentlich geht's Euch allen bestens!), alles Liebe!
und Herrn Professor Gian Pietro (sooo schade, dass unser Projekt nicht verwirklicht werden konnte! Aber ich habe Dich auf youtube mit Deinen Statistiken über die Studenten in der Covid-Zeit gesehen ;))

Visto che Moritzburg vi è piaciuto tanto, ecco un bis, che vorrei tanto dedicare a due ottimi fotografi di flickr, purtroppo inattivi, che oggi hanno il compleanno:
- all'incredibilmente grandioso fotografo e amico Thorsten (lo so, se Sören non ce l'ha fatta a farti ritornare, non ci riuscirò neanche io :(),
e al prof. Gian Pietro (non hai neanche idea di quanto mi dispiaccia non aver potuto realizzare il nostro progetto! Ma ti ho visto su youtube con le tue statistiche riguardo gli studenti udinesi ai tempi del Covid ;)). Buon compleanno!
In winter this branch was always a popular subject and shortly after I took the picture, one morning it was no more - what a pity!!!
Im Winter war dieser Ast immer ein beliebtes Motiv und kurz nach meiner Aufnahme war dieser eines Morgens nicht mehr - wie schade!!!
Zu diesem Bild gehört eine kleine persönliche Geschichte: Als der Sekretär als Doktorand in Karlsruhe war, kam er oft an einer Hausecke mit diesem Schriftzug vorbei, der aus einer (vergangenen?) Zeit stammte, als Bomben und Luftangriffe zum Alltag vieler Menschen gehörten. Als er später anfing, solche «Zeitzeugen» zu fotografieren, erinnerte er sich und fand es schade, nie eine Aufnahme davon gemacht zu haben. Bei einem Besuch vor einigen Jahren konnte er die Stelle nicht wiederfinden. Entweder existiert sie nicht mehr, oder der Sekretär erinnerte sich falsch, beides ist möglich. Vor kurzem stiess er zufällig auf eine Reihe vergessener Negative und stellte erstaunt und erfreut fest, dass er damals doch schon ein Bild gemacht aber dann wieder vergessen hatte. Die Aufnahme auf Illford HP5 entstand 1997 mit einer LEICA CL.

There is a little personal story to this picture: When Secretary was a PhD student in Karlsruhe, he often passed a corner of a house with this lettering, from a ( past?) time when bombs and air raids were part of many people's everyday life. Later, when he started photographing such "contemporary witnesses", he remembered and found it a pity never to have taken a picture of it. On a visit a few years ago, he could not find the spot again. Either it no longer exists or Secretary misremembered, both are possible. Recently he happened to come across a number of forgotten film negatives and was surprised and pleased to discover that he had taken a picture at that time but had then forgotten about it. The picture on Illford HP5 was taken in 1997 with a LEICA CL.

Groenenberg Castle
Around 1890, Groenenberg Castle, as a country house, was commissioned by the Brussels notary Charles Claes. Already around 1900, it was thoroughly renovated and the castle acquired its current appearance.
During World War II, the castle was occupied by high-ranking German officers. After liberation, a lot of damage was done by British and American troops.
Handling the war damage file took so long that the owners never moved back into the castle, which had become uninhabitable. The building deteriorated into a ruin and the surrounding estate went wild.
In 1981, the Flemish government bought the castle, which thoroughly restored it in 1990 and opened the 45-hectare estate to the public as a park.

Omstreeks 1890 werd kasteel Groenenberg, als buitenverblijf, gebouwd in opdracht van de Brusselse notaris Charles Claes. Rond 1900 al werd het grondig verbouwd en kreeg het kasteel het huidig uitzicht.
Tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog werd het kasteel bezet door hoge Duitse officieren. Na de bevrijding werd er veel schade aangericht door Britse en Amerikaanse troepen.
De afhandeling van het oorlogsschadedossier duurde zo lang dat de eigenaars het onbewoonbare geworden kasteel nooit meer betrokken. Het gebouw verviel tot een ruïne en het omringende domein verwilderde.
In 1981 kocht de Vlaamse overheid het kasteel op, die het in 1990 grondig restaureerde en het domein van 45 hectaren voor het publiek openstelde als park.
