It was after this that we had to run back inside to see two back-to-back planetarium shows.
Now, even the most boring planetariums are pretty great and this one was no exception. The first show was about the amazing universe and traveling millions of light years outside our solar system. It was actually entertaining and enjoyable, if you ignored the "isn't god amazing" type of phrases inserted every once in a while. They also often said things like, "This is a problem for secularists," when describing something we don't understand yet, and then they would say, "But not for creation science." It always sounded like they were going to continue on with why it wasn't a problem for them, but they never did, because the answer was god. It's not a problem for us because god did it. See? Why didn't they just say that outside the museum and save me the money? If that's a perfectly reasonable argument at this point, why wasn't it at the beginning?
At another point they said that some secularists don't believe the earth is 6000 years old because there wouldn't be enough time for light from the stars we have seen to reach us. They explain it by saying, "But this is easily explained by ___ or ___ or ___" which are made up phrases that supposedly explain it all up and that's that.
The second show was about the planets in our solar system and it was way more boring because it just talked about every planet and every moon.
If anything, I found these shows more convincing in making the opposite point than they were trying to achieve. They kept talking about how god loves earth and chose to put all his attention only on earth and when they said things like that it seemed silly to create the entire rest of the universe. Why? What's the point? And why isn't any of this in the Bible?
This set of scarecrows is an exhibit at The Florence Griswold Museum in Old Lyme of scarecrows created by artists. This years theme was of course famous art and artists.
This scarecrow is based on Edvard Munch’s (1863-1944) famous painting, The Scream (1893). Located along the river, the scene is drawn from the artist’s imagination of “the enormous, infinite scream of nature." This scarecrow, made from driftwood and other found elements, brings Munch’s strange screaming character to life.

I stepped onto the hill, and saw this young boy staring right at me!!! Usually the males are very skittish, and I expected him to run off, but when he didn't do so immediately, I hunkered down and MoooOOOOOoooo!!!
After a few moos, he calmed down and wandered mildly on his way!! I guess I make a good cow... ummm... is that good???? 8-{O
