The interior is taking shape. The characteristic holes in the floor have been drilled and the floor panels glued in. The engine room has been covered with plywood.

General store scale from England, bought in an out of the way antique store near Alvin, Texas. Made by Avery, Birmingham, England. The weights were included in the deal. They are usually missing.

Built in 1856 as an effort by the Danish government to improve trade in the by-then declining Christiansted, the Scale House allowed for products to be inspected and weighed on a massive floor scale in the open room to assess their value. The effort failed to improve the finances of St. Croix.

This scale is incredible, a real piece of Singapore history, well-used and well-loved, with an irreproducible patina.
Scaled Quail inhabit the more arid areas of the West. These 3 were part of a covey of a dozen or more. Most of the time they were under the cholla cactus in the shade. Some locals refer to these as "cotton tops".
I made a country-cottage-ish half scale fireplace from Sculpey clay.

Uno dei tanti vicoli che caratterizzano la parte antica della mia cittadina, SCALEA.
Scendendo dalle scale ho subito notato la sedia e le casse di legno , che mi hanno fatto pensare alle solite faccende che le donne di un tempo facevano , magari in compagnia di amiche , tra racconti e canzoni del posto.
