Most dramatic among the construction workers of Hoover Dam were the "High Scalers", men who removed loose rock, by jackhammers and dynamite, from the sheer cliffs of Black Canyon, both for safety and for dam stability. Dramatically swinging hundreds of meters over the canyons by rope, they quickly became popular attraction for visitors. In one instance, after Bureau of Land Reclamation engineer Burl Rutledge fell over the top of Black Canyon, high scalers Oliver Cowan and Arnold Parks managed to catch him midair.
Perhaps more importantly was the high scaler's contribution to construction safety. Protecting themselves from the same danger of falling rocks by wrapping cloth hats coated with coal tar, the hard-boiled hats soon attracted the attention of the Six Companies when it saved the lives of several individuals from would-be fatal accidents. The hard hats were soon applied throughout the company.
In 1995, Steven Liguori and Hoover Dam Spillway House concessionaire Bert Hansen commissioned this statue commemorating the high scalers, sponsored by the Nevada State Business Enterprise Program.

Milford Sound, New Zealand, situated on the west coast of the South Island.
Described by Rudyard Kipling as the 'eighth wonder of the world', Milford Sound was carved by glaciers during the ice ages. Breathtaking in any weather, the fiord's cliffs rise vertically from the dark waters, mountain peaks scrape the sky and waterfalls cascade downwards from as high as 1000 metres. When it rains in Milford Sound, and it often does, those waterfalls multiply with magnificent effect.

Rawtenstall’s new £3.5 million, 8-bay bus station, the first phase of the Spinning Point redevelopment of the town centre, opened on Sunday 24 November 2019 replacing the bus station in Bacup Road that was built in 1971.
In 2014, DAY Architectural was appointed to develop proposals for the for the redevelopment of the former Valley Centre, which was demolished in 2012, and the adjacent Town Hall and Police Station sites which would include a new bus station. Initial plans involving complete demolition of the former Town Hall were unpopular and revised plans that retained part of the Town Hall and contained a scaled back bus station were submitted in 2015.
Barnfield Construction developed phase 1 of Spinning Point for the Rossendale Together Barnfield (RTB) Partnership. After some delays, the Town Hall extensions and Police Station were demolished in 2017 and the remaining Town Hall building was refurbished for new tenant, Together Housing, in 2018. Work on the new bus station commenced early in 2019 after resolving issues with access to the Royal Mail sorting office.
By August 2019, part of the old bus station had been demolished so that the junction of Lord Street with Bacup Road could be altered to create the exit from the new bus station, while Lord Street remained close for resurfacing.
This is a 1:100 scale model of a Commercial Space Station, which we were commissioned to build in 2019. The model features a variety of customized modules, stowage facilities, an airlock, an observatory, a robotic arm and a main solar array. The model is accompanied with replicas of the SpaceX Dragon and Boeing CST-100 supply ships. Later we are going to add to this set a replica of the SpaceX Dragon 2 as well. The model also includes several posed astronaut figurines, designed and customized for us by Mr. Max Grueter.
The model was designed in 3D software, produced by rapid prototyping and manually assembled, painted and decorated.
In this model we implemented the features and technics developed for our models of ISS, which we were building and perfecting since 2008. The model has reliable internal reinforcement system, holding the modules together. Most vulnerable elements are produced from durable materials – metal and nylon. Selected components and supply ships’ replicas have embedded magnets, allowing to reconfigure the station and exercise various docking schemes. The model is mounted with support poles on a black painted base.
The model is designed to be partially disassembled during transport. It is packed in a Pelican heavy duty transit case and can be fast and easily assembled for presentation.

To further help my Uncle on his diet (and to make sure he doesn’t secretly eat away at my chocolate stash) I started make him stand on the scales every evening and note down his progress, if there is any.
After comparing the results with those of the previous evening, I usually have a little pep talk with my Uncle... I found that bringing Thwack along to this session is most motivating.
My Uncle usually starts sweating before he has even begun his nightly work out :-)

I had to buy ink for my classroom printer. Walking toward the store, I happened upon this gem. With a graphic like this, the angle from above seemed the most powerful option.

The Glacier on the left seems so small however if you look on the right there are 2 small dots, those are people :) Those mounds have broken off and made their way down the hill and look like mice to me. via 500px ift.tt/1CNhTVd

Model aircraft flying at the helicopter landing field of the Marineterrein (the old Amsterdam base of the Royal Dutch Navy).
I felt tired of making snowmen and gingerbread men and wished to go back to the first and original Christmas, to the little town of Bethlehem and to the one who was born there two thousand years ago.. It was a night full of wonders! One of the them is the Christmas star that revealed the birth of Jesus to the magi, or "wise men", and led them to Bethlehem.
So this is a very unusual cake with cookies and 'sugar paste' decoration, as well as with hand-painted stars.. inspired by that starry night two thousand years ago.
This picture shows various pieces of metal that have a known mass (and weight.) Since the two are directly proportional to each other (F=m(9.8)), scales on earth always measure weight and can also give mass if the numbers on the dial are changed. This can most easily be seen with the smaller green and silver spring scale in the middle, which measures grams (a mass) and Newtons (a weight.) The next video discusses how these various scales give a reading that can be used to obtain the object's weight or mass
