Phaethornis eurynome - Only large hermit hummingbird in its range with black feathers on the throat giving it a scaled appearance. The bill is slightly curved. The back is olive-green and it has a strong mask. The tail is long and white-tipped. Similar to Dusky-throated Hermit, but Scale-throated Hermit is bigger with a longer tail. Found in the understory of humid and montane forests.

Can you find me in the scene? I had just finished shooting and began the hike back, and he spotted me. I am a small black spec about one third up from the bottom and towards the left.
Snakes, like other reptiles, have skin covered in scales. Snakes are completely covered with keratinous scales or shields, of various shapes and sizes. The scales protect their body and, aid in locomotion, allow to maintain humidity within it, alter surface characteristics such as roughness to aid in camouflage, and in some cases they are even useful in capturing their prey.
...really against a harsh hot environment. When one sees the vast dry White Sands Park one really sees the scale and strange environment that a flower can even grow. Yes I laid down to get image - soft for a change but then found sand everywhere, Had to be extra careful changing lens here.

The Dinorwic quarry (/dɪˈnɔːrwɪɡ/ din-OR-wig; Welsh: [dɪˈnɔrwɪɡ]; also known as Dinorwig quarry) is a large former slate quarry, now home to the Welsh National Slate Museum, located between the villages of Llanberis and Dinorwig in North Wales. It was[when?] the second largest slate quarry in Wales, indeed in the world, after the neighbouring Penrhyn quarry near Bethesda.[1]
It covered more than 700 acres (283 ha) consisting of two main quarry sections with 20 galleries in each and a number of ancillary workings. Extensive internal tramway systems connected the quarries using inclines to transport slate between galleries

I chose the wrong time to visit this waterfall, a great lack of water.. there is the remains of an old mill on the site, not much remains and it is mostly covered by the undergrowth.

Scale Haw Force is a fine little waterfall situated on Hebden Beck between the village of Hebden and the tiny hamlet of Hole Bottom.
Last week had me attending the 2023 ISA Show.
While in Nevada, I managed to head out early to get a few shots from Red Rock Canyon National Conservation located roughly 20-miles west of downtown Las Vegas.
This is a 13-shot panoramic image at 40mm.
