Gluten free bratwurst! I'm not a sausage fan - in fact, I'm not really a packaged-meat fan at all, but these were delicious, grilled on the barbeque with hot saurkraut and German potato salad. Amazing!
What a meal. Pan-fried pierogi, fresh blanched asparagus, and Zywiec Polish brand beer. The best part is that we made this ourselves. We made three varieties of pierogi: potato-cheese, savoury cheese, and saurkraut.

This was really one of the best pieces of meat I've ever enjoyed. Pig's leg with potatoes and saurkraut. And beer. And the world cup.
Kielbasa, red cabbage, saurkraut, mustard, a squirt of mayo, and a dill pickel on the side. Good eating
Cabbages on the floor, cabbages on the air-conditioning unit, squashes and strange looking oranges on the windowsill. After the cabbage is kept outsude for a while it is then compressed and fermented to create suancai, similar to saurkraut. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suan_cai
If someone put all their veg outside their house in England, this close to a University, I'd expect that come morning, there wouldn't be a single one left.

An authentic German restaurant/bar, in business since 1892 the Wilhelm Doeck is charming beyond measure and we are the only non-locals. Here is traditional German fare: sausage in black beer sauce, pototoes and saurkraut.

Food at the Orchard Lake St. Mary's Polish festival on memorial day. Kielbasa, saurkraut, golabki (stuffed cabbage), deep fried pierogi.
Sauerkraut - a.k.a. Lacto-Fermented Veggies.
Made with a head of cabbage, three carrots, and half an onion. Fermented with kefir whey. I'll let you know in three days how I like it. ;)
In the summer months, our local fave Chez Pascal has, of all things, a hot dog cart across the street from the restaurant in Lippitt Park. Hewtin's Dogs features delicious all-beef dogs and a variety of house-made condiments. I got saurkraut, raw onions, mustard, and a fabulous vidalia onion and sweet red pepper relish. This was fabulous, though I would have loved a sturdier bun to stand up to all of the juiciness.
I added saurkraut and serrano peppers to the default tomato, cucumber, carmelized onion, mustard, relish, dill pickle, and celery salt combo.
Hot Dog from Kate's Burger Counter - Ingoldsby, Ontario
Topped with Mustard, Saurkraut and Pickles.
Pizza Bites - well, just because.
Fanta Mystery Drink - it is supposed to be Blood Orange flavour. I got a more Irn Bru flavour.

St Paddy's Day Reuben Sandwich w/ Saurkraut and Thousand Island Dressing, House Salad w/ Local Lettuce, Caribbean Jerk Chicken Soup, Peach Crisp
Last night Tara and I went into town to the Winter Festival. it was basically a small food fair focussing on European Winter Foods(although there was a large Morrocan tent stall there selling cous cous and such :)) The stalls were laid out in a ring around an outdoor ice skating rink, apparently the first one in the syndey CBD since 1959, after a miserable rainy week you could see why as the ice was taking a beating :)
However Mugs of Gleuhwine and Hot Rum Punch were great to sip whilst wandering around, as was the the great Dark Ale(complete with wattle seeds to mark it as Australian!) I drank with my German sausage and saurkraut, I was particularly impressed by the German man cooking the sausage as he was as sweaty and redfaced as you would imagine a German sausage merchant :)
Back to the photo, the festival was at the south side of the St Marys Cathdral in Sydney, which until farily recently this end was covered in scaffolding from stone restoration(the scaffolding has moved further along the cathdral now)
Just off to the right of this shot is the Archbishop's residence.
And this city loves hot dogs - seriously. When we first arrived here we kind of joked a bit about how many hot dog restaurants we had come across. Well it turns out that hot dogs are everywhere in this town. No joke. I've seen more hot dogs shops than places selling poutine. And Montreal poutine places often make a mean hot dog poutine. Lucky for me I have a deep and serious love for hot dogs. This place (Mount Royal Hot Dog) makes a really nice boild smokey with a steamed bun, saurkraut, mustard and relish .... perfection
