Opened in 1907, the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk is still going strong after more than 100 years. It is one of only three remaining beachfront amusement parks in California (the others being the Santa Monica Pier and San Diego's Belmont Park).
There's camping in the hills - where old bearded men gather around a campire with weenies roasting - come again tomorrow

the boys, the roommate, the dog and i went to santa cruz beach to enjoy mothers day today. the boys were not wanting to get a picture taking with the water so close to them. notice the wonderful sand swoop that landed right down the bathing suit after the shutter snapped. a half a second later and you would be seeing me in complete mother mode, yelling at gabe!
Santa Cruz on a July summer morning. The fog was pulling back from the shore but was still hanging over the ocean close-by, giving the scene the look of an unfinished painting.

This was taken while I was in Santa Cruz helping as a volunteer at a summer Girl Scout camp. The day this was taken I'd accompanied a group of girls on a morning surfing experience. After they finished surfing we went for a walk-around. The morning fog couldn't make up its mind where it should be, giving the scene a strange almost unfinished look, with some of the view in color and some of it looking like it was in monochrome!
