I tried running the sample through the laundry, but that only felted it about 1/2inch , so I felted it further by hand. It could still felt a lot further, but I kinda like it at this stage.

things I noted:

The mohair felts much faster than the mystery woolen. This makes for a great edge.

the texture of the seed stitch shows though, which made me want to try a basket-weave type structure (I'm making a basket, after all....)

as the near by site was full with one given grade of grain then we had to take them in. maarja was sampling. tom was on a grid, which was again slow one.

Beautiful felted soaps made with wool from local farms.

The first bar is Borderleister/Alpaca blend with alpaca & mohair embellishment.

The middle bar is Coopworth with mohair embellishment.

The third is alpaca with mohair embellishment.

This image is before the final stage of wet-felting which will slightly alter the appearance as the wool felts tighter.

The Alpaca wool is from North Woods Farm in Inman, SC and the beautiful hand-dyed mohair is from Silver Moon Ranch in Tryon, NC. The Borderleister is from a ewe named Ethel and purchased from Susanne at Silver Moon Ranch... the Coopworth was purchased from Teri at North Woods Farm.
