Biologists sample fish populations in the Patapsco River using electrofishing techniques.
The Sample-Lindlaum House was listed in the National Register of Historic Places on 12/02/1998 as part of the multiple property listing named "Lustron Houses in South Dakota."
The Sample-Lindblaum House is a rectangular three-bedroom Westchester Deluxe Lustron, which rest on a concrete slab foundation. The house is constructed entirely of prefabricated porcelain enameled steel paneling.
The major design element of Lustron houses were the all-steel parts, which included studs, trusses, wall frame assemblies, exterior walls, roof shingle panels, rain gutters, window and door frame panels. Wall and ceiling panels were entirely encased in porcelain enamel, as were sliding doors, built-in cabinets, closets and every other surface. The concrete slab floor was covered with resilient asphalt tiles.
There are approximately thirty-eight Lustron houses in South Dakota, including two or three bedroom Westchester examples and one Newport model. Not all of the Lustrons in the state are eligible for listing due to alterations and additions; however, the Sample-Lindblaum House is a good example, retains a high degree of historic integrity and represents a typical three bedroom Westchester model. Architecturally, the house is illustrative of the technological advancement in housing construction and the use of new building materials.

This is a photograph from the 14th annual Daingean Festival 5KM Road Race and Fun Run held in Daingean, Co. Offaly, on Friday 2nd August 2013 at 19:30. The race is held annually on the Friday before the August bank holiday weekend and over the years has built a solid reputation as a challenging 5KM. Several former olympians have set course record times on the course as well as personal bests for many other runners over the years. This year the course changed from it's traditional 4 laps of Daingean village (see below). The race also benefits from the fantastic support of athletes from the running clubs of Offaly, Laois, Westmeath, and beyond.
Congratulations to all of the organising committee, those from Tullamore Harriers and Naomh Mhuire AC who assisted with race organisation, and the local community who come out in strength to offer support and encouragement to the runners. The race marks one of the first events in the annual Daingean Music and Holiday Festival. The Daingean 5KM road race is an example of a small local race which year-in year-out attracts a quality field for all categories whilst also providing a great opportunity for those new to running to sample a race experience.

Overall Race Summary
Participants: There was about 180 participants
Weather: Whilst there was a threat of thundery showers the evening was dry and humid with temperatures around 18C. The runners had a breeze in their faces for the first 2 km but this turned to a tail breeze for the remainder of the race.
Course: The race starts at the Canal at the Edenderry road end of the village. The race then proceeds to do one full loop of the Circular road and then proceeds out the main Tullamore road. At 3KM the course takes a series of right turns which brings the race back to the finish just off the main street opposite the hall.

Refreshments: There was a very impressive selection of refreshments provided for participants in the village hall afterwards.

All of the photographs here on this Flickr set have a visible watermark embedded in them. All of the photographs posted here on this Flickr set are available offline, free, at no cost, at full image resolution WITHOUT watermark. We take these photographs as a hobby and as a contribution to the running community in Ireland. Our only "cost" is our request that if you are using these images: (1) on social media sites such as Facebook, Tumblr, Pinterest, Twitter,LinkedIn, Google+, etc or (2) other websites, web multimedia, commercial/promotional material that you provide a link back to our Flickr page to attribute us. I ran in the race - but my photograph doesn't appear here in your Flickr set! What gives?
As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!
You can email us petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com to enquire if we have a photograph of you which didn't make the final Flickr selection for the race. But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. As alternatives we advise you to contact the race organisers to enquire if there were (1) other photographs taking photographs at the race event or if (2) there were professional commercial sports photographers taking photographs which might have some photographs of you available for purchase. A testing sample pends shipment to the laboratory. Currently, 14 different FDA-licensed tests are performed on every unit of blood collected which nearly eliminates the risk of HIV and hepatitis. After 24 hours, if all initial testing is negative the donated unit is cleared through an extensive quality review process and made available to the blood bank.

The 2010 sampling in Totten Inlet for the second season of oyster emergency-related Ocean Acidification work. Pacific Shellfish Institute and Puget Sound Restoration Fund do most of the weekly field sampling for water quality (including CO2/pH) and sampling the water column for nutrients, chlorophyll , native oyster larvae, and they deploy shell collectors at three beach elevations on a rotational weekly basis to document native oyster sets. Native oysters spawn much earlier than (Japanese) Pacific oysters in Hood Canal, so this sampling has begun (for larvae) earlier than the field sampling for Pacific oysters in Dabob Bay. Duplicate sampling is done in Dabob Bay.

a sampling of a few of the images shot on some Agfa Superpan Supreme film that expired in April, 1943. While I'm pleased with the results (the film hadn't been exposed and was able to hold images after all this time!), I'm puzzled by the odd, brownish, grainy banding (or stain) that run along the length of the strip. Could be my fixer has done bad (but I'd expect a more uniform problem in that case) or could this be a little reticulation? Knowing that the older emulsions can crack and rupture if care is not taken to keep all the chemical and rinse temps the same, I made an effort to do so. Again, I'd think if it were reticulation, the results would be more uniform.
