autumn sampled from the forest
Keen to add some native diversity to the naturalized land on my property, I gathered a variety of seeds whilst out hiking two days ago. To make it a bit more artistic, I gathered some leaves to add to the mix.

Powdered synthetic dye samples collected by the Technicolor Motion Picture Corporation

Since its inception in 1915, the Technicolor Motion Picture Corporation engaged its team of scientists in the search for a color scheme suitable to the projection of motion picture film. The researchers painstakingly worked to create a sophisticated dye-transter printing process, using many different combinations of dyes and dye solutions available from a number of international chemical companies.
The museum holds a magnificent set of 3,037 dye bottles collected by Technicolor over 45 years, during the heyday of the classical Hollywood era; a portion of those—1,788 to be exact—are on display here for the first time. Only a small number of these dyes were selected for the celebrated "look" of Technicolor films.
The Technicolor Corporate Archive was gifted to George Eastman Museum in 2009. The archive's notebooks, dye bottles, research files, cameras, and printing equipment supplemented the museum's existing holdings of vintage Technicolor cameras and film negatives. In addition, George Eastman Museum preserves the world's largest collection of original Technicolor 35mm film negatives, including the color separation negatives for Gone With the Wind and The Wizard of Oz, the latter of which is included in UNESCO's Memory of the World registry of cultural treasures.

I was taking a biker and had Sam's 70-300mm with me to try and get some bird shots - when I got home and looked at what I had TRIED to take, they were awful - had a rabbit about 6 feet from me and had taken about 10 shots and they were ALL blurry - was SOOOO pleased that these two butterfly shots "worked" - no PS needed! Yahoo!
There was one deer in the woods next to the trail and by the time I reacted, it had run off - maybe next time . . .

This recreation of Romantic Ronda is based on the historical Feria de Mayo celebration and the descriptions provided of it by 19th Century travellers. The aim is to remember the Romantic age of this emblematic town, a haven for bandits in Andalusia. At this festivity you can enjoy a livestock fair, street parade, equestrian displays, sample typical products and shop in a period market, along with many other activities.

La ciudad se vuelca en recrear la Ronda Romántica, fundamentada en la base histórica de esta Feria y la descripción que de ella hicieron los Viajeros del XIX, con la finalidad de darle el realce que esta tradicional Fiesta siempre tuvo: emblemática de los Románticos, Arrieros y Santuario del Bandolerismo Andaluz. Los visitantes tienen la oportunidad de admirar el ganado y las exhibiciones de caballos, desgustar los productos de la tierra (vinos, embutidos, quesos etc), comprar en el mércado de época agroalimentaria y artesano, disfrutar con los pasacalles y un sin fin de actividades más que les trasladarán a otros tiempos.
