This Little Blue Heron pulled an odd looking fish out of the Gulf of Mexico. How does it know if it is safe to eat?

I figured with a uncomfortable hot day today, this Northern Harrier male would be a nice cool down capture !

The new fawns in spring are often left in my garden while their mother's browse for food. This little one has found a safe place hidden among my flowers until mom comes to fetch him/her.

Sheltered from the storm

Every ship needs a port, one that is always there waiting for it and that welcomes it when it finally returns home, a welcoming, warm, safe place.

I try to take a drive in the evenings if I can. And seeing deer is a common occurrence, I've not seen anything that has warmed my heart more than this young fawn nursing and it's mother's love so apparent

Peter and Oleg are still at Anholt Castle. The fog is now gone.

PETER:

Oleg! There is a ladder against the wall. Someone climbs up.

OLEG:

Who is it?

PETER:

No idea.

.........

Hey guys!

I'm Bob the Butler and I'm here to help you.

Two bears named Scout and Bruno told me the story about the fog and how scared you are.

You do not have to be scared. That often happens here. Cheshire cat sometimes lives here. He comes and goes like this.

I'll help you down. It's your turn first, Peter. Give me a paw.

And that's how Peter and Oleg come back safely to the ground and look for mommy Marian

May I present the harbour at Clovelly, North Devon. A delightfully safe haven. Go there in winter and stay at the Red Lion. I did. You should too.

I have been away, photographing the coasts of North Cornwall and North Devon alongside eleven like-minded individuals from BRCC. A bloody marvellous time was had by all.

I captured this image just as the female Bushtit was landing and I was able to get the motion in her wings and tail.

As we are now in July I thought I was safe from temptation,.

Shall we walk around the tarn for a change was the suggestion. Surely it will be safe I thought the ducklings must surely be all grown up.

Wrong!! And I couldn't resist again.

Far too cute.

ZIL 130 Fire truck

The ZIL-130 is a Soviet/Russian truck produced by ZIL in Moscow, Russia. The first prototype was built in 1956. Production began in 1962, while mass production started in 1964. It was one of the most numerous cargo trucks in the USSR and Russia, in total ZIL built 3,380,000 trucks up to 1994.

As my native country after WW2 was included in Soviet Union we had all the technique that was produced in Russia or in other Soviet Republics. We became free 1991, our pre war independence had been restored but all technique was still used in different departments...Now it is quite a task to find those trucks..

Happy Slider Sunday

We were told much about the pacification of the favelas, and how a high police profile had changed life in these communities. With this in mind I shot this street scene, and ventured to the end of what was a dead end street.

At the far end I found three police men (you can see one of them in this shot) skived off and doing nothing. Could this have been a stake out, I wondered, it certainly wasn't an undercover job.

They gave me to understand I was not to take their photos. I did the numbers, decided I wasn't looking for the unwinnable argument and left them to their high profile task of favela pacification.

There were thousands in the river and this one just stood out !
