One of my favourite trees in Coronation Park, Oakville, Ontario. I used Luminar4 to remove a tree and garbage can that spoiled the view, and to add some desaturation.

One of the blessings of this year, in the midst of the COVID-19 disruption, is the annual parade of colours in our garden.

Out walking at golden hour last evening. The sky was delightfully tinged with pink and this long cloud over Lake Ontario aligned itself well with the breakwall. This is one of our favourite places to walk.

Call this an experiment. Can I use post processing tools to create an interesting image? Or does it look too unrealistic. Admittedly adding a milky way sky to a winter shoreline would never happen in real life... but then much artwork does veer away from reality at times.

This is a busy photo, but the gentleness of the bee visiting each of the tiny wildflowers was what I was trying to capture.

Somedays my 3 year old phone camera impresses me with the kind of shots I can take when the light is right. This was one of those days.

Added some mood to the photo using Luminar4.

Lake Ontario was wonderfully rough which meant I had to stop on my way home from work.

This tree in Coronation Park in Oakville, Ontario has tenaciously hung onto some of its leaves, providing a colour pop against the grey skies.

Taken with my phone camera.

Did some tweaking in Luminar3 and Lightroom, and the result is a tonally incorrect, but somewhat interesting take on a winter tree.

Another composite using the sky replacement tool in Luminar4. I was having some fun since the tree shot was taken with my Samsung Galaxy S8+.

Ongoing chronicling of my my son's dog's puppyhood.

If you've seen this tree before, it's because it is one of my favourites in Oakville's Coronation Park.

The snow arrived recently, showcasing the contrast of the empty branches.

Converted to mono and tweaked in Luminar3.

Here's another tree on the shores of Lake Ontario. There's something about a lonely bench during a winter storm.

Taken in Coronation Park, Oakville, Ontario with my phone camera during a freezing rain storm. Tweaked in Luminar3.

The conditions at Osprey Marsh in Mississauga, Ontario were delightful, and the light was just right for the camera on my phone.

Took a stroll at the Royal Botanical Gardens Rock Garden in Burlington, Ontario. The sun and sky reflection made for an interesting shot.

Wish I had brought the big camera. All I had was my phone.

During our trip to Cape Town, we did a day trip to Franschhoek, a Huguenot region known for its wines. This was the cellar of the HAUTE CABRIÈRE winery which was built into the mountainside.

These trees at Coronation Park in Oakville, Ontario are getting a lot of exposure in my posts.

Taken on my phone camera during a particularly blustery, frigid day.

I love how Luminar3 lets me extract so many moods from similar images.

The mono and moody treatment added to a shot of one of my favourite trees in Coronation Park in Oakville, Ontario.

This was an experiment of my phone camera in 'Pro' mode, which shoots RAW among other features. (Samsung S8Plus)

Tweaking done in Luminar3.1

I was standing on a viewing platform on the Hendrie Valley Trails of the Royal Botanical Gardens in Burlington, Ontario, when these two Geese flew over and landed on the railing. I had my bazooka lens (Tamron 150-600mm). They were too close to use that, so I had to take this shot with my phone camera.

Some tonal tweaks in Luminar4.

We had an oh so brief bloom of this Iris in our back garden. At times of day, it can appear dark indigo.

Winter in Oakville means that all the boats in the various marinas are pulled out of the water and stored, leaving them looking a bit awkward.

Some cropping and tonal adjustments in Luminar4.

This Monarch was so engaged in eating that I was able to get up this close with my phone camera.

The light was ideal for the phone's camera and I am pleased with the shot. Some post processing done in Lightroom and Luminar4

This tree shows up in a number of shots... but in this case, it merited a solo spot. The empty bench and the tree about to shed its leaves gives the photo a feeling of aloneness.. or an opportunity for solitude. It depends on how you look at it.

At least this time of year I get the beach to myself... Taken at Bronte Beach Park in Oakville, Ontario.

Luminar3 used to bring out some of the details.

Another in my recent tree series. Another of the trees along the shores of Lake Ontario in Coronation Park, Oakville, Ontario.

One of my most peaceful places to hang out is 5 minutes from home - Oakville's Bronte Harbour Outer Marina at golden hour, when the water is glassy smooth.

A wee bit of tonal and contrast tweaking in Luminar3.1.

Even in the cold weather, the park is wonderful in the winter. These lovely gnarly trees grace the shores of Lake Ontario in Coronation Park in Oakville, Ontario, Canada.

As we enter Spring, I've been reworking some shots from this past Winter.

The clouds were participating well and provided an almost as if on purpose framing of the tree.

Another shot (this time from my phone camera) at the changed landscape outside our window in Muskoka, Ontario on Sunday morning.

Used Luminar2018 to remove the buoys in the water as they were distracting.

Took a quick walk by the lake after work today. The sun was setting and the combination of clouds, colours, ice and water was delightful.

Long ago, Toronto was called Hogtown. It has grown substantially since then.

If you look at the horizon, you can see the skyline of Toronto, including the iconic CN Tower.

It's Tulip time in our backyard! You know it's spring when the tulips create their palette of intense colours.

November in Oakville brings a mix of the transition between Autumn and Winter. Some trees seem to tenaciously grip their leaves, whilst others discard them at the first hint of frost.

Taken at Tannery Park in Oakville, Ontario with my phone camera. Tonally tweaked in Luminar2018.

(I know it's a wasp, but Bee works better for the title).

These Yellow Jackets always make me think that they are the outlaw bikers of the insect world. They are not cute and fluffy, and can be nasty at times.

This one landed near me and I was able to capture it with my phone camera. The shot was cropped and tweaked in Luminar2018 to add an element of 'badness' to it.

I'm a big fan of designed symmetry.. like these measuring spoons. Taken with my phone camera and tweaked in Lumianr4

The interior corridors of the Prince of Wales Hotel in Niagara on the Lake is exactly what you would expect a grand old hotel to be. It takes you back in time (but there's also a good wifi signal)

Came across these delightful flowers while on a walk in Bronte Harbour, near Oakville Ontario. According to my plant identifier app, they are Lantana. Nice to have something blooming in October.

Some tonal touch up in Luminar.

This is my son's dog Sophie. She lives for the sole purpose in life is to eat and play fetch. She has just plopped the soggy chew toy at my feet, and is informing me it is my turn.

Taken with my phone camera and edited in Luminar4 and Lightroom.

Sometimes, the park gets so cold that there's just dog walkers and crazy photographers out. This park in Oakville is a bustle of activity in the summer, but I get it to myself this time of year.

Used Luminar4 to convert to mono and play with contrast to help with the lonely feel.

Stopped by one of my favourite waterfront parks on my way home. The sun was setting and created a delightful sky against the new snowfall.

Coronation Park in Oakville, Ontario Canada

The shores of Lake Ontario in Oakville turn into a crystal wonderland during the cold weather.

The autumn leaves are beautiful, but so fleeting... one good wind and they are gone. It's a good thing they transform in stages, like these two at Coronation Park in Oakville, Ontario. Luminar4 (beta) used to remove the garbage container and an errant picnic table, as well as tone down the image to highlight the golden leaves.

The small park on the West side of 16 Mile Creek in Oakville, Ontario is one of my 'other offices' - where I go when I have reading or email to reply to and can get out of my windowless office. It lets me get some much needed Vitamin N (for Nature).

One of the joys of moving is to find out what kind of plants the previous owner left you... especially if the gardens were well planned. We were most impressed with the colours in these roses.

Taken with my phone camera, background muted and details enhanced in Luminar3.1

Winter is beautiful when it first arrives. This shot is from a walk at 'golden hour' along the shore of Lake Ontario at Coronation Park in Oakville, Ontario.

We were walking by the lakeshore in Oakville, Ontario yesterday. The skies were wonderfully clear and the cityscape of Toronto (30 miles away) was exceptional. I only had my phone camera, which did not handle the detail well, so I decided to make lemonade out of the lemons, and try to approximate a painting of the scene that was before us.
