One of the blessings of this year, in the midst of the COVID-19 disruption, is the annual parade of colours in our garden.

One of my favourite trees in Coronation Park, Oakville, Ontario. I used Luminar4 to remove a tree and garbage can that spoiled the view, and to add some desaturation.
Out walking at golden hour last evening. The sky was delightfully tinged with pink and this long cloud over Lake Ontario aligned itself well with the breakwall. This is one of our favourite places to walk.
Call this an experiment. Can I use post processing tools to create an interesting image? Or does it look too unrealistic. Admittedly adding a milky way sky to a winter shoreline would never happen in real life... but then much artwork does veer away from reality at times.

Lake Ontario was wonderfully rough which meant I had to stop on my way home from work.
This tree in Coronation Park in Oakville, Ontario has tenaciously hung onto some of its leaves, providing a colour pop against the grey skies.

Did some tweaking in Luminar3 and Lightroom, and the result is a tonally incorrect, but somewhat interesting take on a winter tree.

If you've seen this tree before, it's because it is one of my favourites in Oakville's Coronation Park.
The snow arrived recently, showcasing the contrast of the empty branches.

A short while ago, I was walking in the balmy climes of Costa Rica in dense tropical forests.
The lakefront in Oakville is not balmy, not lush, but still beautiful in its winter garb.

During our trip to Cape Town, we did a day trip to Franschhoek, a Huguenot region known for its wines. This was the cellar of the HAUTE CABRIÈRE winery which was built into the mountainside.

This Monarch was so engaged in eating that I was able to get up this close with my phone camera.
The light was ideal for the phone's camera and I am pleased with the shot. Some post processing done in Lightroom and Luminar4
This tree shows up in a number of shots... but in this case, it merited a solo spot. The empty bench and the tree about to shed its leaves gives the photo a feeling of aloneness.. or an opportunity for solitude. It depends on how you look at it.

As we enter Spring, I've been reworking some shots from this past Winter.

November in Oakville brings a mix of the transition between Autumn and Winter. Some trees seem to tenaciously grip their leaves, whilst others discard them at the first hint of frost.

These Yellow Jackets always make me think that they are the outlaw bikers of the insect world. They are not cute and fluffy, and can be nasty at times.
This one landed near me and I was able to capture it with my phone camera. The shot was cropped and tweaked in Luminar2018 to add an element of 'badness' to it.
We had an oh so brief bloom of this Iris in our back garden. At times of day, it can appear dark indigo.

It's Tulip time in our backyard! You know it's spring when the tulips create their palette of intense colours.
The small park on the West side of 16 Mile Creek in Oakville, Ontario is one of my 'other offices' - where I go when I have reading or email to reply to and can get out of my windowless office. It lets me get some much needed Vitamin N (for Nature).

The interior corridors of the Prince of Wales Hotel in Niagara on the Lake is exactly what you would expect a grand old hotel to be. It takes you back in time (but there's also a good wifi signal)
One of the joys of moving is to find out what kind of plants the previous owner left you... especially if the gardens were well planned. We were most impressed with the colours in these roses.

Winter is beautiful when it first arrives. This shot is from a walk at 'golden hour' along the shore of Lake Ontario at Coronation Park in Oakville, Ontario.
The autumn leaves are beautiful, but so fleeting... one good wind and they are gone. It's a good thing they transform in stages, like these two at Coronation Park in Oakville, Ontario. Luminar4 (beta) used to remove the garbage container and an errant picnic table, as well as tone down the image to highlight the golden leaves.
We were walking by the lakeshore in Oakville, Ontario yesterday. The skies were wonderfully clear and the cityscape of Toronto (30 miles away) was exceptional. I only had my phone camera, which did not handle the detail well, so I decided to make lemonade out of the lemons, and try to approximate a painting of the scene that was before us.

I took typing classes in high school on a beast like this. If you weren't paying attention, your fingers could get stuck between the keys (at least mine did), or you could jam the keys by going too fast (which is something I never seemed to experience.) Found this wonderful specimen on a shelf at a friend's house. This shot taken with my phone camera, then tweaked in Luminar2018 used a plugin to Lightroom.
This is my son's dog Sophie. She lives for the sole purpose in life is to eat and play fetch. She has just plopped the soggy chew toy at my feet, and is informing me it is my turn.
