A misty morning on Rydal Water, that tree again as the mist floats over the surface.
Rydal Water, Lake District, Cumbria
……I liked these two dead trees dominating the scene and pleased to see some new trees being nurtured to replace them. Alan:-)………

Another shot from our quick visit to Rydal Water.
The Autumn colours were just coming into force and the reflections on the lake looked great until the wind picked up.
This is definitely an area of the Lake District I want to explore a bit more of on my next visit, I think there is a lot of potential for some good photos here other than the popular boathouse.

As much as I appreciated comments and feedback I would request no Awards or flashy gif comments, please. They will be deleted. Thank you.
Thursday morning is up there with the best few hours of photography I’ve had in a long time. It started at Rydal Water photographing the boathouse from a viewpoint I’d not been to before. The light wasn’t great, but the mist lingering on the mirror like water made up for it.
Quite a few images to follow, taken this same morning but in VERY different conditions…..

……A lovely circular walk around the lake with great views all the way around. Alan:-).…….

The Grotto a tiny summerhouse built to view the falls.
Had a 4 day break in the Lake District, mixed weather. This is one of the locations I wanted to try out.
Well I've resisted long enough! After a gorgeous morning in the Langdale valley, the light was so good I thought a quick pit stop on the A591 was in order! This is the little rocky island just of the Northern shore of Rydal Water containing the photogenic tree that everyone seems to want in their collection.
So here is mine. It will probably look at its best in about 3 weeks time when its leaves and that of all the others will have their full autumnal colour.
Formerly part of a slate mine Rydal Cave now attracts a good number of visitors. It can be found a short walk above Rydal Water or if like us you can take a longer stroll from Ambleside. We incorporated our visit in an eight mile circuit of Loughrigg Fell.
Access is relatively straightforward although the Lake District authorities do suggest that you keep out of the cave as large rocks have periodically fallen from the roof.
One strange aspect is the presence of a large shoal of minnows that appear to thrive in the cave pool. There are hundreds of little fish up to three inches in length. Quite how they got there I'm not sure. That being said I do understand that it is possible for birds to visit and inadvertently carry fish eggs on their legs.
