There are two Hudsons, both rusted out, parked right adjacent to each other behind fence at auto junk place Rte 25 south side of town. Since vehicles are packed in so tight this is only real shot I could get.

I rememeber when I was a kid and these came out. My friends father who lived in same apt. building as us got one - think it was their first new car. All previous ones Jimmy used in his construction business. I was fascinated as first car I saw where you stepped down to get in the car. He used to sleep it off in the car Sunday mornings after Saturday nights at the Knights of Columbus. Man a couple blocks over from us was the Hudson Dealer. They had 3 cute blonde girls and all us kids played over there. They were one of the first to have a TV and invited all us kids to watch lots of times. I especially remember Ed Sullivan Show, as one of the first ones.

Would you fare the oceans with this rusty old wreck?

Voor deze opdracht moest ik foto's maken voor het thema 'Thuis'. Toen ik hier over nadacht kwam ik er achter dat thuis voor mij geen materiele dingen zijn. Het zijn gevoelens zoals warmte en veiligheid. Maar hoe kon ik dit fotograferen? Ik heb gekozen om elke foto op dezelfde neutrale plek te maken.

Elke foto geeft een gevoel weer. Omdat thuis ook negatieve kanten kan hebben, heb ik alles in zwart/wit gefotografeerd. Het geeft de foto's een treurige uitstraling maar geeft het daardoor, naar mijn mening, ook meer kracht.

Ik heb 1 foto zonder bordje gemaakt. Met deze foto, waar ik met mijn paspoort opsta, wil ik aangeven dat 'thuis' niet plaatsgebonden is voor mij. Ik kan overal in de wereld een thuis hebben of vinden zolang de gevoelens die bij een thuis horen er zijn.

The Oil Patch Liquor Store in Signal Hill, California. The Long Beach oil field is one of the most productive in the world, and oil is the second biggest export after movies. A lot of that history is preserved on these wooden walls.

Idleness breeds rust.....

Some pieces I collected from the railway track ages ago, with a plan to use them for rust dying fabric. Still haven't done it.

The uniform straight lines and flowering swirls on an old bench caught my eyes. Then I saw the brass blow torch with rust creeping through the little crevises and the edges.

Dunno, just liked the look of the rust on this stop sign.

Rust Organza Mandap - Maz Events

Those bolt holds together the pipe for this geothermal drilling site. This reseach hole is around 2000 meters deep. I would not recomend anybody to touch those bolts because they are to hot to touch. It is placed in Reykjanes, Iceland.
