This is a close-up photo of patterns of rust on an iron panel on the wharf at Port Maitland Beach. There is a suggestion in the bluish shape of a pareidolia portrait profile.
This image was composed while hiking in the Big Morongo Canyon Preserve in Southern California. The typical hiker - new to the canyon - will be shocked to see this rusted-out car sitting there, in the middle of wild and forbidding terrain.
A local newspaper once profiled the sight, describing a poor post-war Ford lying in the canyon. "Unfortunately it has seen better days. Not only was it pushed off the cliff above, a huge rock fell on it, every piece of trim has been stripped off, and it was used for target practice."
An interesting human element on a walk in wild nature.
This is a B&W photo of rust stains on the side of a furnace oil tank that suggest strange marine lifeforms.

I was out doing an errand yesterday and came across this old truck. I didn't have my camera with me but I had my phone so I took some pictures with what I had I'm very happy with that I got!

This is an iron decoration attached to a single flower vase.
The part shown in the photo is approximately 5 cm in total.
I took a photo of the rusted part at pedestal.
During my buddy Harvey's recent visit, I gave him a serious dose of historic gold mining sites with a side order of blacksmiths. Harv was continually on the lookout for that elusive 5 lb. gold nugget. Alas, he was sorely out of luck on that count, however he did get a nice exposure to rust. What do you expect from 19th century historical mining sites? More on those blacksmiths later.
Happy May Day everyone.

The table is falling to pieces.
I think it's quite pretty.
Delicious rust colours
so beautifully authentic.
Rich and deep
but not for long.
I keep finding new bits
on the deck.
I rubbed some into
a white canvas.
They made a nice
deep red hue.
The start of
something new.
I've also mended a bunch of socks.

Just as iron rusts from disuse...
even so does inaction spoil the intellect.
