Virgin London Marathon 2010.
This photo was taken by Julian Mason on Sunday 25th April 2010 in Westferry Road (Isle of Dogs, London E.14) on the approach to the sixteen-mile point of the 2010 London Marathon.
Here is the autumn table runner I have been making for my friend's bridal shower. It was three months ago! Sorry! At least it is in time for Christmas (and only one season late).
Another great turnout for this the 3rd Xborder Challenge run from Gretna to Carlisle, it got quite hot as we neared the finish but was still pleased with time sub 40 .

i went out on that beach very far from anyone. i thought i was pretty alone there. at one point i stopped and just looked around - to my very surprise the space behind me was filled with hundreds(!) of runners, approaching my direction... the stream of runners then didn't seem to have an end!
This is a photograph from the second running of the Athlone Flatline Half Marathon ("The Flatline") was held at Athlone, Co. Westmeath, Ireland on Saturday 14th September 2013 at 11:00. There was beautiful weather for the event which started and finished at St. Aloysius College near the Canal Banks area of the town just slightly west of the River Shannon. This event was professionally organised and the very flat course meant that many runners both seasoned and new to the scene achieved season or personal bests. Almost 1,000 participants successfully completed the event in the beautiful September sunshine. Everyone involved must be congratulated for the flawless running of the event. This event is sure to go from strength to strength over the coming years. The "Flatline" also included an option for a full marathon which was fully supported by the Marathon Club of Ireland and the East of Ireland Marathon Series. This allowed participants to run the Flatline twice for the qualifying marathon distance. About 80 people took part.

Overall Race Summary
Participants: Such is the popularity of the race this year that registration closed for the race in mid-August 2013. There were well over 1,000 participants who took to the start line.
Weather: The weather on the day was almost perfect for running. The runners were bathed in warm September sunshine for the duration of the race and into the early afternoon. In the sections of the race out towards Clonown and around the Bord na Mona areas there was a stiff breeze but nothing major.
Course: "The Flatline" ceratinly lived up to its name. It is as flat a course as one is likely to find. A garmin connect gps trace of the route is provided here [connect.garmin.com/activity/199678412] Geographically the course spends much of the race in County Roscommon with only the first and last kilometers actually in County Westmeath. This gives geographically inclined runners the novel opportunity to race in two Irish provinces in one race. The course had distance markers at every kilometre and mile along the way. There were official pacers provided by the race organisers.

Refreshments: An Alkohol Frei bottle of Erdinger was provided to every finisher as they crossed the line. Light refreshments were served.

►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!

We run because that is all we have ever known. The wind through our hair, the ache in our muscles, the breathlessness. It’s easier this way. We have the key to escape and we wont be handing it over any time soon. All we have to surrender is connection. You dont need that when you’re a runner because if anyone comes close you just run away. Lucky our legs are warmed up. Lucky we crave freedom. Though sometimes they try, it is hard to tie a runner down. The road is what we live for. The run is in our fabric.
Loch Lomond Highland Games 2013
Loch Lomond Highland Games are a traditional Scottish Highland Games situated in the village of Balloch at the southern end of Loch Lomond. The games were started in 1967 by a group of local business men with an outlay of £500 to promote tourism in the Balloch area and now has prize money of over £15,000 - now a Private Limited Company with Scottish Charity status.
The games are now one of the top three Highland Games in Scotland hosting the Scottish Highland Games Association World Heavyweight Championship and the 80 metre Scotttish Sprint Championship.
The games are the only Scottish games to host a Triathlon which includes a swim in Loch Lomond. Other events include piping, athletics, wrestling, cycling, dancing and all the usual heavyweight events.
This is a photograph from the 11th annual running of the Tom Brennan Memorial 5KM Road Race and Fun Run which was held on Furze Road, Phoenix Park, Chapelizod, Dublin, Ireland on New Year's Day Friday 1st January 2016 at 12:00. The race route is a two loop course which starts and finishes on the Furze Road in the middle of the Phoenix Park. Participants follow a clockwise, right-handed, route around Furze Road, Ordnance Survey and Chesterfield Avenue. The weather was not the best for fast racing. A very very strong stormy headwind into the faces of participants along Chesterfield Avenue made this particular section tough going for everyone. There was also a particularly cold icy feel in the air. However several hundred runners, joggers and walkers braved the elements to take part.
The race is organised and promoted by the local athletics club Liffey Valley Athletic Club who are based in Islandbridge, Dublin 8 and have a catchment area around this part of Dublin city.
The race commemorates the memory and contribution of former club member Tom Brennan who won the National Cross Country Championships in 1975 in UCD Belfield at the age of 24 years. A special commemorative perpetual trophy is presented to the winner of the race every year. The race is also of particular interest to those runners, joggers and walkers who are not necessarily involved in the competitive side of the race. Annually the race is the first of a series of races in Dublin city which make up the Lord Mayor’s 5 Alive Challenge. This initiative by Dublin City Council is now in its fourth year and over 300 runners, joggers and walkers volunteer to take part in five of Dublin’s most popular road races. The Liffey Valley Club and many other volunteers work hard to make this a very successful event. It provides a splendid opening of the New Year for runners of all abilities. It is also a fitting 'official' start to the new year of road racing in the Dublin and North Leinster region.

This runner was all alone as he passed the Polynesian Resort during the Princess Half Marathon this past February.
I quilted a bit star in each block...Finished the table runner made from the leftovers of the 12 Days of Christmas Sampler Quilt Along....for my daughter Melissa.

This is a new kind of Ram. Inspired by Baja-style desert racing, this 4x4 is unlike any other in captivity. The rigors of off-road racing require large tires, plenty of ground clearance, extreme durability and a sophisticated suspension system capable of withstanding tremendous impact. These features are combined into a package that is stable at speed and rock-solid in the corners. To achieve this kind of handling, a low center of gravity and long wheel travel are paramount.
The Mopar Ram Runner has the look and feel of thoroughbred desert racer. Inspired by trophy trucks, steel front fenders and rear bed-sides are replaced with fiberglass, allowing tremendous suspension articulation with zero interference.

*Variable-rate coils support bed loads while special control arms provide 14 inches of wheel travel
*Custom tubular Baja bumper and aluminum skid plate combination that housed four high-powered, LED off-road lights
*A six-point roll cage finalizes the package while a special tubular tire carrier keeps a spare handy in the bed while maximizing load space
I met up with Mary at the Red Rocks Amphitheater here in Denver to do some running/fitness inspired shots.

This is a photograph from the 3rd annual Fore Village 5KM Road Race and Fun Run which was held in the village of Fore, Castlepollard, Co. Westmeath, Ireland on June 25th 2014 at 20:00. Despite the very damp conditions almost 150 participants took part in the event. The course brought runners on a challenging but fair 5KM route starting in the village and going anti-clockwise towards the Castlepollard Oldcastle Road. This busy road section, the R195 was very well stewarded, and gave runners both up and downhill sections. The final 1KM was mainly downhill as the race finished at the car-park outside the beautiful and historic Fore Abbey. Fore Village is situated in a beautiful part of Westmeath and lies in a valley between several hills.
Race Director Ray Farrelly and Ballycomoyle GAA club must be congratulated on a very well organised event with every detail taken care of.

Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!

This is a Fine Art photo of the vintage motel sign named "The Road Runner Motel". The Road Runner is one of the characters in the cartoon which pairs it with Wile E. Coyote in a series of Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies cartoons. The characters represent a Greater Road runner & a Coyote. To date, 48 cartoons have been made featuring these characters and they have also appeared in: movies, TV, video games, song and comic books. The Coyote character is based on Mark Twain's book "Roughing It", in which Twain described the coyote as "a long, slim, sick and sorry-looking skeleton" that is "a living, breathing allegory of Want. He is always hungry". In spite of this description, the Roadrunner is the state bird of New Mexico. Oh so many interesting notes on the Road Runner, all the more reason to own this delightful photo of "The Road Runner Motel." Think of all of the cartoon friends you have that would appreciate this photo as a gift.

This is a photograph from the second running of the Athlone Flatline Half Marathon ("The Flatline") was held at Athlone, Co. Westmeath, Ireland on Saturday 14th September 2013 at 11:00. There was beautiful weather for the event which started and finished at St. Aloysius College near the Canal Banks area of the town just slightly west of the River Shannon. This event was professionally organised and the very flat course meant that many runners both seasoned and new to the scene achieved season or personal bests. Almost 1,000 participants successfully completed the event in the beautiful September sunshine. Everyone involved must be congratulated for the flawless running of the event. This event is sure to go from strength to strength over the coming years. The "Flatline" also included an option for a full marathon which was fully supported by the Marathon Club of Ireland and the East of Ireland Marathon Series. This allowed participants to run the Flatline twice for the qualifying marathon distance. About 80 people took part.

Overall Race Summary
Participants: Such is the popularity of the race this year that registration closed for the race in mid-August 2013. There were well over 1,000 participants who took to the start line.
Weather: The weather on the day was almost perfect for running. The runners were bathed in warm September sunshine for the duration of the race and into the early afternoon. In the sections of the race out towards Clonown and around the Bord na Mona areas there was a stiff breeze but nothing major.
Course: "The Flatline" ceratinly lived up to its name. It is as flat a course as one is likely to find. A garmin connect gps trace of the route is provided here [connect.garmin.com/activity/199678412] Geographically the course spends much of the race in County Roscommon with only the first and last kilometers actually in County Westmeath. This gives geographically inclined runners the novel opportunity to race in two Irish provinces in one race. The course had distance markers at every kilometre and mile along the way. There were official pacers provided by the race organisers.

Refreshments: An Alkohol Frei bottle of Erdinger was provided to every finisher as they crossed the line. Light refreshments were served.

This is a new kind of Ram. Inspired by Baja-style desert racing, this 4x4 is unlike any other in captivity. The rigors of off-road racing require large tires, plenty of ground clearance, extreme durability and a sophisticated suspension system capable of withstanding tremendous impact.
