The warmer weather got lots of the runners out this weekend. I like watching runners but I really ain't in to running!
This is a photograph is one of a set of photographs from the Castlepollard 5KM Road Race and Fun Run 2013 which was held in Castlepollard, Co. Westmeath, Ireland on Wednesday 14th August 2013 at 20:00. The race is hosted by North Westmeath Athletic Club. The race has grown in stature and popularity over the years and is now one of the most well attended road races in the midlands. The race offers prizes in all categories. Castlepollard 5KM Road Race attempts to support young runners and walkers by organising a range of underage races around the town square before the adult race at 20:00. Profits from the race go towards grassroots athletics in the region - North Westmeath Athletics, Schools Cross Country, and local community games. Due to the slightly late start and the fading light it was difficult to capture as many photographs as normal and we ended up with many blurs and mistakes. This photograph belongs to a larger set of photographs from the race event which are accessible at this link [http://www.flickr.com/photos/peterm7/sets/72157635070120285/]
Event Management and Race Timing were provided by PRECISION TIMING: See their website at [www.precisiontiming.net/result/racetimer] and their Facebook Page at [www.facebook.com/davidprecisiontiming?fref=ts]
The Castlepollard 5KM can be considered as the final major race in summer road racing in the midlands as with the fading light of the late summer comes less opportunities to hold races in the evening time. Castlepollard is a small town located in North County Westmeath amongst the lakes of Lough Lene and Lough Derravagh.

Overall Race Summary
Participants: There was about 470 participants which is a significant increase on previous years.
Weather: This was a warm humid night. There was little or no breeze which made for very favourable conditions for 5KM racing.
Course: The race begins near the Church and ino the town square and proceeds directly out the R395 towards Coole and Edgeworthstown. The first KM is flat and quick allowing the field to spread out. The race then enters the Tullynally Castle estate and proceeds up the tree-lined avenue. The gardens, like the castle are on a magnificent scale, taking in nearly 12 acres. This allows the race to make a big loop of the gardens with a quick downhill stretch followed by a sharp climb before the race rejoins it's outgoing path for the final 1.5KM of the race. The final 800M from the gate of the Castle grounds to the finish is as the first - fast and flat and allows for a great finish at the GAA grounds.
Location Map: See the links below: goo.gl/maps/J6HUl (Google Satellite Imagery)
Refreshments: There was a very impressive selection of refreshments provided for participants in the GAA hall afterwards.

I ran in the race - but my photograph doesn't appear here in your Flickr set! What gives?
As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!
You can email us petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com to enquire if we have a photograph of you which didn't make the final Flickr selection for the race. But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. As alternatives we advise you to contact the race organisers to enquire if there were (1) other photographs taking photographs at the race event or if (2) there were professional commercial sports photographers taking photographs which might have some photographs of you available for purchase. You might find some links for further information above.

Lowepro Pro Runner 350aw with Canon 7D (gripped), Sigma 150-500os, Tamron 10-24, Tamron 28-75, Tamron 90macro, Tamron 70-300vc, Canon 580exII Flash plus misc accessories. Really liking this backpack.
She looked the part, with the visor; to me she has an almost "professional runner" appearance, although in a decidedly amateur event.
That is intended to be a compliment. Looking like you belong is generally a good thing.
This is a photograph from the 4th Annual Meath Spring Half Marathon and 10KM Road Races hosted by Bohermeen AC on the 8th March 2015 at 12:00 at Bohermeen, Ardbraccan, Navan, Co. Meath, Ireland. A 10KM race was also held and started one hour before the half marathon. This event has grown quickly in popularity over the past few years with this year's entry of 1,168 with this being a record for both races. The half marathon had 843 entrants while the 10KM race had 325 entrants. This half marathon event is perfectly placed in the Irish running calendar as it provides runners of all levels and abilities an opportunity to test the half marathon distance in preparation for a Spring Marathon or as the first serious running goal in 2015. Bohermeen AC is steeped in Irish athletics history since 1927 and it is this experience and exceptional community spirit and volunteering which has made this event today so successful.
Want to use this photograph or share it? Please read/scroll down a little further to find out how - it's very easy!
The weather was very suitable for road racing with the exception of a strong headwind at certain parts of the course. However the cool, dry sunny conditions were suitable for fast times and PB performances from runners.
Our full set of photographs from today's event are available on Flickr at the following link https://www.flickr.com/photos/peterm7/sets/72157648897769373/. This set of photographs is mostly of the Half Marathon race but there are some from the 10KM event.

The Canyon Runner was a prototyping and advertising platform to experiment with new technologies and boost interest in Corellian Engineering's freighting solutions. It was affectionately named "The Canyon Runner" by the team of engineers and pilots that would race it through mountain passes to prototype new technology and for the occasionally press viewing. The ship had most of her rear half removed to save on weight as well as the mandibles up from hollowed out. She was also outfitted with a Bowlin VII engine that when outfitted took up the majority of the living space within the ship. The fuselage was also separated from the ship to allow fo a more symmetrical frame to ease engineers work load as they were constantly removing and upgrading the technologies inside. She served with the Corellian team until she was retired and later bought as an on planet smuggling vessel.
The idea behind this build was to see how I could push the boundaries of what makes a ship look like the millennium falcon.

This is a photograph belonging to a set of photographs taken at the St. Coca's AC 5KM Road Race 2013 which was held in Kilcock, Co. Kildare, Ireland at 20:00 on Friday 28th June 2013. This superb road race is now firmly established again as one of the fastest and best organised road races of it's kind in Leinster. The race follows a left handed course around a well known local walking route around Laragh and in the closing kilometer runs parallel to the Royal Canal into the finish at the railway station. The members of St. Coca's AC and the many volunteers from the local community must be given great praise for organising another fantastic night of racing for runners, joggers, and walkers. The 5KM course is very flat with the exception of short incline up a motorway overpass and makes its way along narrow country lanes sheltered on either side by hedgerows. The beautiful summer's evening made for an enjoyable night for everyone with a large crowd gathering at the finish to cheer on participants.
Electronic timing was provided by Precision Timing [www.precisiontiming.net].
