This is a photograph from the 4th Annual Meath Spring Half Marathon and 10KM Road Races hosted by Bohermeen AC on the 8th March 2015 at 12:00 at Bohermeen, Ardbraccan, Navan, Co. Meath, Ireland. A 10KM race was also held and started one hour before the half marathon. This event has grown quickly in popularity over the past few years with this year's entry of 1,168 with this being a record for both races. The half marathon had 843 entrants while the 10KM race had 325 entrants. This half marathon event is perfectly placed in the Irish running calendar as it provides runners of all levels and abilities an opportunity to test the half marathon distance in preparation for a Spring Marathon or as the first serious running goal in 2015. Bohermeen AC is steeped in Irish athletics history since 1927 and it is this experience and exceptional community spirit and volunteering which has made this event today so successful.

The weather was very suitable for road racing with the exception of a strong headwind at certain parts of the course. However the cool, dry sunny conditions were suitable for fast times and PB performances from runners.

As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!
You can email us petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com to enquire if we have a photograph of you which didn't make the final Flickr selection for the race. But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. This is a photograph from the 3rd Annual Meath Spring Half Marathon and 10KM Road Races hosted by Bohermeen AC on the 2nd March 2014 at 12:00 at Bohermeen, Ardbraccan, Navan, Co. Meath, Ireland. This year's event included a 10KM race which replaced the 5KM event held on the previous years. This event has grown quickly in popularity over the past few years with this year's entry of 700 beating the previous race numbers of 680. This half marathon event is perfectly placed in the Irish running calendar as it provides runners of all levels and abilities an opportunity to test the half marathon distance in preparation for a Spring Marathon or as the first serious running goal of the New Year. Bohermeen AC is steeped in Irish athletics history since 1927 and it is this experience and exceptional community spirit and volunteering which has made this event today so successful. The very heavy rain that fell on the 10KM race and the begining of the Half Marathon did nothing to dampen the spirits of the participants. In fact, despite a head wind at certain parts of the course, this was a perfect day for road racing.

The routing for the 2014 event has changed slightly from previous year. In 2014 the race starts about 100m away from the Bohermeen Club Race HQ [See Google StreetView in the direction of the imagery goo.gl/maps/rtj1X] and the race proceeds down the road towards Navan. Just before the 1st mile the race takes a right turn [see Google Streetview goo.gl/maps/iGrR0] which brings runners on the route of the famous Patrick Bell 5KM Road Race route held at Bohermeen every summer. Then the route turns slightly eastwards and this brings the race along a beautiful stretch of rural countryside road. This connects runners with the main loop [see Google StreetView goo.gl/maps/gLI1l] where the race follows the N51 towards Navan. The race must now complete this loop (which passes through the start area and past the finish) and then a full loop again before finishing in the Athletics track. The only hills to speak of in this course are on the the stretch where the race route crosses the M3 motorway (see Google Streetview - as of March 2014 their imagery is a little out of date for the M3 goo.gl/maps/tcdJX). The only major climb on the course must be tackled twice as the road rises up over the M3 Motorway. This comes at about the 5M and 11.5 Mile mark in the race.

This is a photograph from the finish of the 36th Michael Manning Memorial "Dunshaughlin 10KM" Road Race and Fun Run which took place in Dunshaughlin, Co. Meath, Ireland on Saturday 20th June 2015 at 19:30. This race is widely acknowledged within the Irish running community as one of the best races in Ireland. While being very well attended and competitive it is also one of the oldest 10KM races in Ireland. The numbers for this race have exceeded expectations year on year for the past number of years. In 2008 a record field of 306 took to the start line but by 2012 this number had more than doubled with 647 runners taking part. The starting numbers in 2013 topped this again at 668. Last year, 2014, the numbers rocketed to a new record of 883. This year 862 finished the race showing that the race continues to attract very substantial crowds. This year, as in previous years, the race attracted runners from not just all of Leinster but from the four corners of Ireland. Who knows but this race could reach 1,000 entrants next year? The work of the organising committee must be commended on making this event possible. The Dunshaughlin 10KM has earned it's place at the top of the pedestal of Irish running through the sheer hard work of Dunshaughlin AC over the years. Road race events do not survive on their own. There must be dedication, hard work and a development vision amongst the committee and the host club. Well done to all.

This is a photograph from the 29th annual Bohermeen AC Patrick Bell 5KM Road Race, Jog, Walk, and Fun Run which was held at Bohermeen AC, Ardbracan, Navan, Co. Meath, Ireland on Saturday 7th June 2013 at 19:30. The race was held in very warm sunshine with little or no breeze: an almost perfect summer evening. The race commemorates Patrick Bell, the late Bohermeen clubman who died tragically in the summer of 1985 following a traffic accident, whilst returning home from Cork having competed in the National track championships. The wonderful atmosphere, the great racing and participation, the work by the club, Meath Athletics, the local community, and the wonderful weather is, yet again, a fitting tribute to Patrick's memory and his contribution to Athletics in Ireland. Congratulations to everyone involved. Everything that is good about grassroots athletics and running in Ireland was on show in Bohermeen tonight. The planned race route had to be changed at the last moment due to a funeral which was taking place in the area. This seen the race reverting back to it's old course which brought runners into Bohermeen village and through the bogs area of Ardbracan. The folks at Bohermeen AC and the local community host a barbeque, cook-out, and entertainment, as turf fires burn late into the night. One of the best after race atmospheres you are likely to find in Ireland. The race started at the school about 800m from the Bohermeen AC track and makes a left handed course around some beautiful rural country roads and turns back to Bohermeen Village and then back for the final kilometer which is straight to the track and the finish on about 60 meters of athletics track.

The Bradbury Building in Downtown L.A. was one of the more notable locations used for the 1982 Sci-Fi flick "Blade Runner" (top).
The lobby has also been seen in the movie "(500) Days of Summer" in the final scene when Tom meets Autumn.
This is a photograph from the 4th Annual Meath Spring Half Marathon and 10KM Road Races hosted by Bohermeen AC on the 8th March 2015 at 12:00 at Bohermeen, Ardbraccan, Navan, Co. Meath, Ireland. A 10KM race was also held and started one hour before the half marathon. This event has grown quickly in popularity over the past few years with this year's entry of 1,168 with this being a record for both races. The half marathon had 843 entrants while the 10KM race had 325 entrants. This half marathon event is perfectly placed in the Irish running calendar as it provides runners of all levels and abilities an opportunity to test the half marathon distance in preparation for a Spring Marathon or as the first serious running goal in 2015. Bohermeen AC is steeped in Irish athletics history since 1927 and it is this experience and exceptional community spirit and volunteering which has made this event today so successful.

The weather was very suitable for road racing with the exception of a strong headwind at certain parts of the course. However the cool, dry sunny conditions were suitable for fast times and PB performances from runners.

I couldn't not put a splash of colour on this. I also had to add in some figures... just for a sense of perspective.
In my opinion, the most impressive part of this year's races was Ridge Runner's performance in Saturday's Gold Heat race. It ran a 6-lap average of 477 mph, with its fastest lap at 489 mph! Giving the super-'stangs a run for their money.
10 months out of the year, Ridge Runner is a stock P-51D. But during race week, RR has a monster of a Merlin, shortened wing-tips, and a modified radiator intake. However, it's still a relatively stock-looking mustang when compared to Voodoo, Strega, and Dago Red.
I had a blast watching Dan Martin and Ridge Runner keep the highly-modified racers on their toes. I can't wait to see them do it again next year!

As if he didn't have enough to do already, this runner devoted a few seconds to raising enthusiasm among all the spectators in Central Park.
This is a photograph from the 30th Annual AXA Raheny 5 Mile Road Race 2014 took place in Raheny Village, Dublin, Ireland on Sunday January 26th 2014 at 15:00. The 'Raheny 5' has become one of the most famous road races in Ireland. The race has continued to grow year-on-year and this year was no exception on the year of it's 30th Anniversary. Almost 3,000 participants took part in the various events of the day. The incredible voluntary organisational work carried out by Raheny Shamrocks and the local community in staging the race every year must be acknowledged.
The weather was postively wintery today. There was an icy wind blowing into the face of the runners at various points in the course. This made for some very variable mile-splits. Overall the weather was favourable in that the rain stayed away and there was some helpful 'wind at the back' for the runners in places.
The race route starts at All Saints Park and goes into Raheny Village via Watermill Road. The route then turns west and along the Howth Road before turning left onto Sybill Hill Road. The route then turns left again onto Mount Prospect Avenue and continues until you run down to the sea-front and the Clontarf Road. The only real hill in the course is at the left turn from Clontarf Road onto Watermill Road. Finally, at the North East end of St. Anne's Park the race turns left and makes it way to the finish which is positioned at the start area of the race.
