I placed my main subject on the right third of the frame to add interest. It doesn't hurt that it's finally spring and we have some bright pink blossoms!

I took a picture of a banana split because it's my favorite dessert and for the past three years I have been working in an ice cream shop in my home town and banana splits are my favorite thing to make. I think this photo includes rule of thirds, framing, point of view and simplicity.

Some of the most important features of the picture land on the intersections of the rule of thirds lines. In the photo there is even a dividing line between the top and bottom sections of the elevator sign.
