Hybrid Amaryllis 'Ruby Star' show on Bergger Pancro400, with the Deardorff and the Kodak 12" Ektar lens (at f45). Film processed in Rodinal 1:25
I love working with Bergger's Pancro 400. It can produce some mighty rich values.
Ruby Beach is the northernmost of the southern beaches in the coastal section of Olympic National Park in the U.S. state of Washington. It is located on Highway 101, in Jefferson County, 27 miles (43 km) south of the town of Forks.
It seems the smaller the bird, the more active and more difficult to photo. Had a half-dozen around me this morning and got very little for my effort.
Our beautiful world, pass it on.
This Ruby-crowned Kinglet was flitting back and forth rapidly and we could not figure why until we got home and saw that he was catching his lunch of insects. Merced NWR.
Ruby was working in part of Bridlington’s Treasure Island amusement arcade when I saw her. As there wasn’t anyone at her counter, I decided to go over and introduce my stranger project to her.
I asked Ruby to stand near the front of her counter so more daylight illuminated her and then all I had to do was choose my angle so that nothing too bright or colourful appeared in the background as they would become distractions.
Ruby told me she had worked in Treasure Island for a year. Ruby had taken this job to support her whilst she studied law at college. Ruby was now in the second year of her course and when this was completed, she’d go to university to continue her studies. Ruby said her ultimate goal was to become a defence lawyer.
If Ruby could change one thing in the world it would be to make everything cheaper.
Thank-you Ruby for saying yes to being photographed for my stranger project. I hope you like your portrait.
This picture is number 407 in my 100 Strangers project, yes, I’ve decided to do a fifth round. Find out more about the project and see pictures taken by other photographers at the 100 Strangers Flickr Group page

My first Ruby-tailed Wasp of 2014. This male investigating my "bee-hotel"; presumably, prospecting for a mate.
Looks like one of the Chrysis species. These parasitise the nests of various Ancistrocerus mason wasps and some other solitary wasp species. Chrysis ignita is also thought to parasitise Red Mason Bee nests.

Caught in the moth trap set up in the garden last night - a ruby tiger. They look nothing special until you get some lighting on them and then go for exposure of the underwings and body. Then they are gorgeous.
Little Ruby is much desired new member in Silver Birdie family. She was born by Caesarean as the only puppy. Now she is looked after with maximum effort and love in order to ease her start:)
Well... know of another little guy like this having a serious photo shoot in the age of five days? :D

This shot was taken today in my backyard. We have hummingbird feeders that we replenish weekly with nectar (4:1 ratio of water to sugar). Two hummingbirds have stayed with us all summer, living in a nearby bush. They are very territorial creatures, and sometimes they battle over who will have supremacy over the feeders.
This one is a Ruby Throated Hummingbird, which is the most common in this part of the country.
Look what I randomly found on Flickr :)
One of the first designs I did back in 2002. Glad to see it found a good home.

MOC: Ruby Roadster. This started out as a hot rod, but turned into something altogether more classy - which I'm rather pleased with.
Ruby Falls
Lookout Mountain
Chattanooga Tennessee
1 Sec. Exposure
Located 1120 ft. (341 m) beneath Lookout Mountain, Ruby Falls is 145 ft. (44 m.) underground waterfall. Giving viewers only 7 minutes to view this unique underground formation, the lights from the sides of the cave walls and in the plunge pool change colors from red, to green, to purple and to blue. The waterfall is fed by a stream somewhere on Lookout Mountain but where the stream enters the mountain is unknown.
This is Ruby a good friends dog, unfortunately Ruby has cancer and has not long to live so my friend asked me to take some nice photos of her so I spent a lovely afternoon with them both. we were to spend time in her fave spot in the woods but weather was rubbish so I have to go back again this week :)
(Day 219 or 365)
Ruby Bay, Elie, East Neuk.
The last few times I have ended up at Ruby Bay conditions have been challenging. No exception this time either with an uninteresting blue sky and a strong onshore wind creating a lively sea. The result was a very fine mist on the filters. In the end I gave up and retreated from the beach to the dunes just in the nick of time to get this before the sun disappeared into a big bank of cloud over to the west.
Thanks for viewing and for any comments / faves.
Here’s another Ruby-throated hummingbird, this time at lantana ‘miss huff’ and farther away than the one on August 26, so more of a focusing challenge for my camera, but I like the black background.
