Ruby was working in part of Bridlington’s Treasure Island amusement arcade when I saw her. As there wasn’t anyone at her counter, I decided to go over and introduce my stranger project to her.
I asked Ruby to stand near the front of her counter so more daylight illuminated her and then all I had to do was choose my angle so that nothing too bright or colourful appeared in the background as they would become distractions.
Ruby told me she had worked in Treasure Island for a year. Ruby had taken this job to support her whilst she studied law at college. Ruby was now in the second year of her course and when this was completed, she’d go to university to continue her studies. Ruby said her ultimate goal was to become a defence lawyer.
If Ruby could change one thing in the world it would be to make everything cheaper.
Thank-you Ruby for saying yes to being photographed for my stranger project. I hope you like your portrait.

These stunning insects have emerged in the last couple of days, and I have been seeing them basking in the sun with twitching antenna on my log pile and house walls. They are utterly stunning when seen up close!

This series is of the Ruby Throated Hummingbirds that took up residence in and around my back yard and garden this past Summer.
I found it amazing how perceptive these little creatures are. They would fly rite up in front of me and hover when I would enter their space . I think to say please leave my space, or hover and feed within a few feet of were I sat or stood, but point a camera in their direction and poof they were gone. Still I have managed to get a few pics of them . here are a few of my favorites.

I moved one of my hummingbird feeders to hang from a window because the squirrels have a sweet tooth this year and were drinking from the feeder and spilling the sugar water out. This gives us a closeup view of these tiny amazing birds while sitting at our dining table.
Can you spot the second ruby-throated hummingbird?
