Just a Ruby-crowned that flew around and eventually landed in a bush close enough for me to get good shots.
The Ruby Theater is a small movie theater in Chelan, Washington. Built in 1913, it was named after Ruby Potter, the daughter of its manager, Frank Potter. The original owners were Herbert R. Kingman and Morrison M. Kingman. Original seating capacity was 225 on the main level and 125 in the balcony. The theater was equipped as a cinema and as a vaudeville house. With the exception of 1972-1974, the Ruby has been showing movies for over ninety years, and is one of the oldest movie theaters in Washington.

Ruby-throated hummer taking nesting material from a nest material ball. She must be starting a second nest since I took this on 6/28/22. Monmouth County, N.J.
Three shots of a ruby-crowned kinglet on his way through the Minneapolis area yesterday. He was with a few lady friends and did his best to impress them with his bright red crown. There is snow on the ground still, and 3 to 5 more inches on the way this evening. It is supposed to be 70 degrees by the weekend. We love it here!

Small hummingbird found in a variety of woodland and brushy habitats. Male distinctive with ruby-red throat and black chin. Female has whitish underparts with almost no buffy tones (perhaps a very light wash on flanks). Readily comes to sugar water feeders and flower gardens. Default summer hummingbird over most of eastern U.S. and Canada. Winters south to Panama. Very difficult to distinguish from Black-chinned Hummingbird, especially females and young males; thankfully limited range overlap. Ruby-throated averages somewhat brighter green above, shorter- and straighter-billed, and has slightly narrower outer wing feathers, but these differences are all extremely subtle.

I"m pissed - Ruby- throated Hummingbird - 07.09.2020. This bird is very territorial. Does not let anyone near the feeder. When I stop by to see if they has food, she flies close to my ear and when her food runs out, she comes looking for me at the window. - 07.09.2020.
