I took a shot at making my own custom AT-RT like any self-respecting LEGO Star Wars fan would, and I think it turned out pretty decent. I borrowed a few ideas from the AT-RT found in 8098 Clone Turbo Tank from 2010 for the body but the legs are completely custom to my knowledge. I used Mixel joints for their wider range of motion for the hips and ankles, but also used brackets to restrict sideways motion for the knees. This allows for more dynamic poses you see these things do in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and to even balance on one leg. I had considered adding colors to represent the different regiments, but this thing has been built for three weeks, if I was going to do it, I'd have done it already. Thanks for stopping by.

I used the darker tan arms / legs from the minifig series 5 inspector. I painted the waist / torso testors flat olive drab green. I also painted part of the helmet flat dark tan to match the arms / legs. I was using this
(images.wikia.com/starwars/images/1/1c/AT-RT_Driver.jpg) pic for reference and felt that it better matched.
C & C welcome as I'm not 100% happy with him yet.
Going back to my Star Wars roots. Just recently revamped my AT-RT design and added a ton of extra details and parts. I don't know if I ever posted my first version; I used it on my Kashyyyk MOC. The original base design for this model came from someone on YouTube if I remember correctly.
Parked outside Wandsworth Garage March 1970. RT1708 carries the body from RT2776 which was one of the trio that visited the USA.
Some small updates to my AT-RT, having spent a week working from home and with it on my desk. The feet have been updated with more accurate toes, while the front armour plating is now much less gappy. I think it could be fine-tuned a bit more but I'm much happier with this updated version.

Another grey day - and a call in at Dartford Garage where RT1021(ex Green Line) is waiting on the 477. RT3054 is also seen parked across the Garage doors showing route 423A.

Finger Lakes engines 2001 and 2002 power the so-called Sweep Job back to Geneva, NY as they close in on the crossing at route 89. Maybe in the winter they should call this train the Pelt Job as busting through the snow drifts along the way is anything but a gentle sweep!

Thought I'd show a sign of life as I haven't been very active in the last couple of months.
I don't have my bricks on hand all the time lately but I started building with the LDD a bit more the last few days.
I came up with this little model because I wanted to see how close I could come to a minifig scale AT-RT without using illegal connections. I'll build it in the brick as soon as possible to look and see if the legs can hold the weight.
