What seems like an age ago, I was a young 20-year-old undergraduate at Harris Manchester College, Oxford. When it came time to join a sports team, rowing seemed the obvious choice. I mean, when in Rome right? I had friends who chose Cricket instead, but as well all know, that's just a poor man's baseball.

Anyway, when returning to the States, I was all ready to buy a racing scull ( www.levator.com/rowing_shells/boat_details.php?boat_id=80 ) ...but I was soon to be leaving for Sweden and there was a question as to how much time on the water I would get, not to mention the cost investment.

So instead, I went for a rowing machine that was as close to an 'on the water' experience as possible. Instead of a fan moving air to cause resistance, this machine has a blade within a tank of water. As you pull, the blade moves against the water. Want a harder row or the effect of a heavier boat to pull? Just add more water.

Today is all about getting back to making some serious headway on what was started back in Day 32.
