There was a fence across the street just behind me preventing access to the roadworks, but I couldn't resist - had to squeeze inside and shoot this perspective. (I only regret, I didn't also take one zoomed-in on those tracks.)
Funny thing is that when we got home and compared photos, almost every single club member that happened to walk down this street, had a shot from this very spot. :-)
Old signs, marking the remains, of old businesses that used to thrive on Route 66. Hotels...cafes...gas stations...no longer thrive or exist.
A pair of Southern Pacific SD70Ms tote a manifest toward Dunsmuir, California in Fall 1998. Locals refer to this Mount Shasta lava flow as the "Devil's Garden."

A great and much photographed view looking south over Monument Valley from mile marker 13 on Route 163 (That's Amy in our drop top Mustang coming towards us!) with no sign of the intense drama that had occurred the night before!

Shortly before Harris took over the route from Selkent - 13 February 1998. Long-time preserved RT1702, plus Stagecoach East London's RM1599 did a run over the route.

A re-model of an EFE SLF MkII Plaxton Pointer 10.7 metre Dart model to depict Stagecoach London's 34362 LV52HKO 10.2 metre Dart as worked out of Bromley Garage on route 314. This bus has now been transferred to their Training Fleet, their only Dart Trainer.
In front of the Route 66 museum in Tucumcari New Mexico. Using available street lights and a little added red on the brake lights.
NS 955 dives under the overpasses of 55 and 66 on its way south with the crew once again making sure we knew they saw us.

The Route 30 Diner in Ronks, Lancaster, Pennsylvania is a Silk City diner model built in the 1950s. I have seen it opened recently but on my Sunday visit it was closed.

Today was the grueling 26.2 mile run. People came from all over the world to run this marathon, however only one can win. Congratulations to Edurado Raphael Lencina from Tucuma Argentina, (I have looked at this place and its gorgeous) with time 2:34:10, I got to the finish line at 5:57:31, NO I did not run I just walked up to the finish line to get a photo and it was 5:57:31 a beautiful 62 degrees in Tulsa OK, good on you all that ran.
