Route 1 is the ring road which goes around iceland. Using the road is a classical use of a leading line. I like, how it pulls the eye to the right. It gives an aditionally dynamic to the look into the wide from foreground to background.
One of only 2 E200s left at BK with dayglow blinds. Won’t be long till these are replaced with the normal white.
Day 4 "Haute Route" trek.
We made our way on a lofty traverse via the Sentier des Chamois to the Col du Termin.
We then continued to the rocky Col de Louvie and traversed below the Grand Desert Glacier where we passed a series of small tarns before ascending once more to the Col de Prafleuri and descending
steeply to the Cabane de Prafleuri.
My son and I undertook one of the most challenging treks, the Haute Route.
It was a rigorous 10 day trek from the Chamonix Valley in France to Zermatt in Switzerland, 180 kilometers, 11 high mountain cols with approx. 12,000 meters of ascent.
This is a tougher trek than the Tour du Mont Blanc.
Trek Grade 4: Demanding, an excellent level of fitness and stamina required for big mountain days with continued and substantial height gain and descent of over + or -1500m per day plus sustained trekking over distance for 10 days.
I'm ready for another trek, I love the mountains so much. 💗
IAIS' CBBI, lead by 502 and an SD38-2, struggle up the grade at New Lenox, IL. It's certainly doesn't match the Rock Island's main event, NKP 765, but I was more than happy to catch this!
The driver of 195H checks his off-side mirror as he pulls out into traffic from Lower High Street onto Bridge Street, Wednesbury.
I have to guess that the bus is operating a short-working of the 75/79 service as far as the Hawthorns, or possibly a football special.
Behind 195H, operating the 75 service from Wednesbury to Birmingham is another ex West Bromwich bus, one of the ECW bodied low-height Fleetlines of the 115-121 batch,
Today the road junction still exists, but the buildings seen here have long been swept away along with the White Horse Hotel. A traffic island now makes the junction much safer for traffic to negotiate.
The 35mm slide from which this is scanned is undated, but to put a date on it I would suggest late 1974, early 1975. The trees are bare, so winter time. 195H was withdrawn from use in December 1975.
