Sadie contemplates her food bowl while the others watch me for any sign of capitulation.

My only complaint about Sadie, and considering she is just 3 months shy of her seventeenth birthday it’s a small complaint, is that she is a very finicky eater. I probably worry about it or cater to her more than I should, I mean by this time in her life I’m sure she knows when she needs to eat or not.

I typically pull a gate across the doorway there, but sometimes if I open the gate and she observes the vultures about to circle her food bowl that provides an added incentive for her to eat. Sometimes. The others here have not eaten breakfast yet, which they will get once Sadie finishes, or doesn’t, and they will all eat out in the dog yard. Sadie will go out to supervise that as well…. I don’t know if it is a ritual, a routine, or a circus, but it’s a scene that gets repeated everyday, twice a day.

Lenore and I have a very familiar mantra here, and it goes like this, "Sadie..... EAT!"

I start my day with a cup of joe and, Flickr.

Avancer sans douter

Rire, danser, chanter et

Toujours l'un l'autre se pousser

En avant, plus loin

Ne jamais se laisser tomber

Indiscutable de

Rêver ensemble

Encore et pour longtemps."

Little video of a group of Oyestercatchers doing their courtship routine. A lot of them seem to nest in quiet meadows instead of coastal beach's, perhaps too many dog walkers there!

The photograph captures the rhythmic dance of waves crashing onto the rocky shoreline of Kanyakumari, the southernmost tip of India, where the Arabian Sea, the Bay of Bengal, and the Indian Ocean converge. The foamy surf surges forward, washing over the dark, weathered stones before receding, leaving behind a glistening trail of salt and sand. The golden hues of the setting sun cast a warm glow over the waters, blending seamlessly into the vast horizon.

In the background, the iconic Vivekananda Rock Memorial stands proudly on a small island, a tribute to the philosopher Swami Vivekananda, who meditated here in 1892 before spreading his teachings across the world. To the side, the towering statue of Tamil poet and saint Thiruvalluvar rises against the sky, symbolizing wisdom and virtue. The region itself carries immense historical and cultural significance, once serving as a vital maritime hub for ancient trade routes connecting India to Rome and Southeast Asia. Legends also associate Kanyakumari with Goddess Devi Kanya Kumari, believed to be an incarnation of Parvati, who stands as a divine guardian of the land.

The waves, relentless yet serene, echo the spirit of Kanyakumari—an eternal meeting point of cultures, history, and natural beauty.

Sometimes we eat not because we are hungry, it's just part of the daily routine...

3—Routine

Ben preparing to put ylang ylang essential oil combined with carrier oil on me. This has become part of my daily routine—every 2 hours while I’m awake we apply essential oil to me in order to help with my trauma response and mental health symptoms. The symptoms are so intense and debilitating and can become life threatening. While essential oils don’t completely take the symptoms away or “cure” me they do help me to be able to cope. I’m so thankful this has become a part of my routine as it is helpful and familiar so it helps to create a sense of safety. I am thankful for Ben’s willingness and persistence in making sure he helps to care for me by reminding me to use essential oils throughout each day and helping with the process—left to myself I’d probably decide I’m not worth it and skip the oils—I’m thankful for Ben’s support in this.

As I photographed this bench from various angles I spotted a dog walker and was able to capture the two together. The dog clearly knows the route and leads the way leading me to believe that this is a routine that doesn't change much. That perhaps the bench is never used by this person. How do routines prevent us from getting the most out of life. Is the man really there with his dog or is he thinking about something else? The practice of mindfulness is about totally being in the moment. Isn't that why we do photography?

My morning routine: clean and change vet bed bedding and puppy pads underneath. Weigh pups to keep track and make sure that they are gaining weight daily, they are, pups have tripled their birth weight in almost 3 weeks 😊 All with Olive in attendance, she's so attentive, gold star for Olive 🌟

As you can imagine, getting the pups to stay still requires patience! they are much easier when half asleep :)
