Various lounge-chairs and cocktail tables scattered atop the roof-deck for watching the sunset or just kicking back and relaxing
You know what? I just LOVE being at rooftop level in London - I really need to look for more places with views like this. This one shows the DLR in the distance running towards East India Dock. There's a lot of water between me and it, though you can't see it at all.

So I haven't been doing great in getting the photos uploaded the same day I took them, but I am sure some of you are glad to see something that was not taken at night or inside!
One thing I have vowed to do for the new year, and with this 365 project is to present my neighborhood and my surroundings to others, but also as a documentary for myself. One thing I wanted to document is this view of the fair city of Lakewood. Its from the window of the stairwell in my apartment building. Sometimes I take the stairs just to get this view. When the sun is setting, it can be nice to get a view of it, over the treetops and rooftops. It may not be the most astounding to some, but I enjoy it nonetheless.
Another thing I have vowed to work on this year is HDR. My friend tbower has an amazing collection of tasteful HDRs in his stream. He manages to display a scene with enhanced dynamic range, tastefully done, and similar to what we see with our eyes. I have also seen badly done HDR that is unrealistic and the effect is overdone for my taste, so I know what to avoid! So this scene may not look challenging, exposure-wise, but the sky was quite bright compared to the gloom that covered everything else. This was a 3 exposure HDR (+1, 0, -1) that provided the right amount of range I felt necessary, and I am really happy that it looks "normal" to me.
Steps: not outside my front door, but outside the apartment, so I will count this one at 9 steps.
Rooftop storage is quite popular in Cairo. Just look at the number of tires to be found there. Picture taken from Bab Zuweila.
