The bleeding fairy helmet is widespread and common in Europe and North America. It is saprotrophic—meaning that it obtains nutrients by consuming decomposing organic matter—and the fruit bodies appear in small groups or clusters on the decaying logs, trunks, and stumps of deciduous trees, particularly beech. These common bonnet (the toque mycena, the common mycena or the rosy-gill fairy helmet) also emerge from the same dead tree trunk.
Wikipedia: Mycena galericulata mushrooms grow mostly in clusters on the well-decayed stumps of deciduous and coniferous trees from spring to autumn. It is common and widespread in the entire temperate zone of the Northern Hemisphere, but it has also been reported from Africa. It is quite variable in color, size, and shape, which makes it somewhat difficult to reliably identify in the field.

Marloie - Sinds dit jaar ben ik al meer naar België geweest dan naar Duitsland, wat ik vrij knap vindt aangezien vanaf thuis het maar hemelsbreed 40km is naar de Duitse grens :-)
Een paar dagen terug ben ik ook naar België geweest, waarvan de foto's nog wel volgen. Maar eerst nog wat foto's van de meivakantie, waar ik nog een dozijn van over heb...
Na de foto van de Luxemburger werd er weer teruggereden richting het bekende viaduct in Marloie, voor de P-trein uit Namur (die oorspronkelijk uit Brussel-Zuid komt...). Er rijden namelijk twee P-treinen uit Brussel in de avond naar Rochefort-Jemelle. De eerste rijdt als P8601 vanuit Brussel-Zuid met T18 en een stam M4, en een uur daarna rijdt P8603 vanuit Namur naar Rochefort-Jemelle, hoewel het materieel al begint in Brussel-Zuid als P8602 naar Namur. Deze rit wordt verzekerd door een T18 met een stam M5, wat vrij bijzonder is in België. M5 rijtuigen kunnen sowieso alleen in een stam rijden en tevens werken de stuurstanden alleen met de Reeksen 21 en 27. Hoewel de eerste P-trein in minder licht kwam, was de 2e P-trein in beter licht en daarnaast trof ik ook nog een wervingsloc ervoor, dubbel gelukje! NMBS loc 1830 is zojuist vertrokken uit Marloie als hij de laatste kilometers maakt naar Rochefort-Jemelle als P8603.
