My Girlfriend (and owner of this doll) is holding the background cardboard. I gave her this doll for Valentine's, and the cardboard used to keep a Kiki Smith Litography.

My daughter is a history lover...she requested this dress.

Raina out rollerskating

BOX DATE: 1979

MANUFACTURER: Mattel

DOLLS IN LINE: Starr; Shaun; Kelley; Tracy

MISSING ITEMS: Harmonica, phone, comb, soda, rollerskate

PERSONAL FUN FACT: I still am in shock that I not only got my dream Tracy WITH her outfit, but also some of her accessories! I found all these goodies with my doll in 2019, contained inside a battered, crushed white doll case. Tracy and Starr's jackets look almost identical. But Starr's wrists and waistband have elastics in them, that give the cinched in effect. Both gals also have the same red socks. I admit that their strange body molds make the pair difficult to dress--their rubbery legs are tricky to pull the bodysuit over. I was most surprised to find cardboard Starr accessories floating around the case. At first I thought they were really awesome clone accessories from the 1970s. I was set on keeping them anyways, but Colleen informed me that they could belong to Starr and co. She was looking through our "Thirty Years of Mattel Fashion Dolls" book as we were digging out the contents of the case. I had no idea that the dolls came with books, since the boxed photos in the book are grainy. We also got shoes too--sadly this rollerskate doesn't have a mate! Either way, I never thought I'd find any of the dolls' outfits, let alone some of their delicate accessories...I feel so very lucky!

the end was near before, we have reached the point in balance where it is lost and the forces of gravity have started their relentless takeover. Korea 1970 or 71 and this kid must be in his 50's. Wonder if he knows this picture exists.

Tawny got a little Jealous that I always play with Kit lately if I pick up a JB girl, so today she wanted to show off some of her moves!

Went to see a roller derby game tonight: Rhinestone Cowgirls vs. The Hellcats

I always get so pumped when I see them! I wish I had enough balance to stay on some rollerskates.

Regardless, I'll probably hit up adult skate night up at our local rink. ♥ I need some exercise anyways. You never know where I'll end up!

I don't know but for some reason I think she looks sort of 70's like in color & style. I could be totally wrong but that's why I used a funny title - sing it with a 70's groovy style. LOL!

Me = nerd! Have a great day!

Should this guy be riding eight wheels or two?

I guess there are hot red skates in cities other than Paris ... but I've never seen them.

As for the weird skates that the guy was wearing ... well, what can one say? Maybe he's from New York City :)

Note the woman in the background on the left. I don't speak French, but I'm pretty sure she was shouting at him, "Hey! You with the funny haircut! Where did you get those stupid-looking roller skates? They look like something I would give my kid to wear, as soon as he learns how to crawl out of this baby carriage ... Mon Dieu!"

This is one of approx 260 photos that I decided were not so bad that I had to delete them and recover every wasted binary bit of storage on my computer disk ... but also not good enough to warrant uploading to Flickr as a "public" photo.

Since Flickr now provides so much storage to us picture-crazed photographers, I've decided to upload all of these "random pix" as restricted "friends and family" photos so that most of the world doesn't have to suffer through them ...

I've cropped and edited these photos, but have not gone to the additional trouble of geo-tagging them ... sorry about that.

In the spring of 2014, we came to Paris for a week of relaxed vacationing, mostly to wander around and see some old familiar places. It was a “return” trip for both of us, though in my case I think it’s probably been more than 15 years since I was even here on a business trip.

Business trips to any city don’t really count as a “visit” -- since they basically involve flying into a busy airport at night, taking a taxi to a generic business-traveler’s hotel (a Hilton in Paris looks just like a Hilton in Cairo), and then spending several days working in the hotel (if the purpose of the trip was a seminar or computer conference), or at a client’s office (also “generic” in most cases — you can’t even tell what floor you’re on when you get off the elevator, because every floor of “open office” layouts is the same). The trip usually ends in the late afternoon or evening of the final day, with a mad dash back to the airport to catch the last plane home to NYC. Thus, a business trip to Paris is almost indistinguishable from a business trip to Omaha. Or Albany. Or Tokyo.

But I did make a few “personal” visits to Paris in the 1970s and 1980s, so I looked forward to having the chance to walk through some familiar places along the Left Bank. I’m not so interested in museums, monuments, cathedrals, or other “official” tourist spots (but yes, I have been to the Eiffel Tower, just as I’ve been to the Empire State Building in NYC), so you won’t see any photos of those places in this Flickr set.

As a photographer, I now concentrate mostly on people and street scenes. The details of the location don’t matter much to me, though I do try to geotag my photos whenever I can. But for the most part, what you’ll see here are scenes of people and local things in Paris that made me smile as I walked around …

A logo design for a rollerskating club here in Wellington. I did this in exchange for skating lessions! Final version has text in the banners, but i haven't found a font i like yet

I guess bolder and more graphic than my usual stuff, but it'll be on shirts and stickers so i thought it would be a nice departure.
