Young Will Shakespeare has writer's block... the deadline for his new play is fast approaching but he's in desperate need of inspiration. That is, until he finds his muse – the courtly Viola de Lesseps. This beautiful young woman is Will’s greatest admirer and will stop at nothing (including breaking the law) to appear in his next play, disguising herself as boy-player Thomas Kemp. Against a bustling background of mistaken identity, ruthless scheming and backstage theatrics, Will’s love for Viola quickly blossoms and inspires him to write his greatest masterpiece.
The story is, at heart, a romantic comedy but it is also about the glorious world of show-business - nothing much changes in theatre and that London's Bankside in 1593 was much like commercial theatre today. Money men assert their power, scripts get rewritten, egos have to be massaged, rivalries develop and last-minute crises intervene. Yet, by the magic that is theatre - somehow Shakespeare manages to turn the distinctly unpromising Romeo and Ethel the Pirate’s Daughter into the masterpiece that is Romeo and Juliet.

Gary Tisdale, assistant director of marketing for the Recreation Center, drops a hammer Friday on the Massac County High School’s hand- made box in the Recreation Center. Massac County competed against more than 275 high schools during the 15th Annual School of Accountancy Accounting Challenge, an annual event rewarding students with college scholarships. “We gave each team a half piece of construction paper, four sheets of copy paper, three feet of masking tape and three cherry tomatoes,”Tisdale said. “The students have to make something to hold and protect the cherries from being smashed by the large hammer.” Marion, Carterville and Flora high schools were among the schools that took first place in different events.

Bacha said they receive calls from many different people, including farmers and out-of-state pilots. “We are the ones that people come to check in for flights and get their plane packet with the keys and safety instructions,” Bacha said.

Sophomore pole vaulter Caselyn Harding competes Saturday at the Recreation Center during Saluki Fast Start, which was SIU’s first track and field meet of the season. Harding placed third with a 3.2 meter mark. The Salukis received nine event wins at the meet and was ranked the highest collegiate finisher in all five events. Grant Krumrey, 15, of Carterville, works out by boxing and kickboxing in a fitness room at the Recreation Center Sunday. “I try to come here and just box at least every Saturday or Sunday,” he said. “It’s nice to be able to go in here without a bunch of other people so I can get a workout in.”
Mark Fletter, of Carbondale, helps mat and frame artwork Friday at the Carbondale Framing Studio. The artwork, which was submitted by southern Illinois children, will be displayed during the For Kids’ Sake art auction that raises money for Bangladeshian orphans and students. Event director Shema Ruperto said the program received about 200 pieces to auction off. “It used to be just schools in this area who help out, and now we have children from Bangladesh helping out as well,” she said. The auction will begin April 2 at Longbranch Coffeehouse and will end May 4 with a closing reception from 5:30 to 8 p.m.

En resumen el Sargento “Pedro Kántor” es el actual líder de los Puños Carmesí una legión de “Astartes” (hombres genéticamente modificados) descendientes del testarudo Primarca “Rogal Dorn” y sus Puños Imperiales. Destacando por su ferviente fanatismo los Puños Carmesí fueron los ejecutores de los altos señor de Terra ante cualquier hereje.
Siendo muy leales al Imperio y protectores de su planeta “Rynn” los Puños Carmesí fueron sorprendidos por una invasión del Kaudillo “Snagrod” junto a millones de orkos belicosos, la situación se volvió aún más crítica cuando por accidente la fortaleza-monasterio de los Puños Carmesí fue destruida por un defecto en los lanzamisiles que defendían el planeta; Entre los pocos sobrevivientes en tierra y testigos del accidente estaba el atónito “Pedro Kántor”, quien lamentando la muerte de miles de compañeros demostró convicción al reunir a los escuadrones sobrevivientes para planear una resistencia sobre la superficie de “Rynn”.
Superados en número y perseguidos por incontables bandas de guerra Orkoides, el Sargento “Pedro Kántor” y sus maltratados escuadrones de puños Carmesi plantaron su defensa final junto con los ciudadanos humanos disponibles en acciones de flaqueo y retirada; Con el paso de los meses la resistencia imperial se redujo a la última ciudad que permanecía inexpugnable junto con los últimos sobrevivientes al borde de la aniquilación absoluta por parte de millones de salvajes Orkos. (Los últimos 400 puños Carmesí sobrevivientes aguardaron desafiantes su inevitable final.)
Cuando las primeras oleadas de orkos comenzaron a ingresar en la última ciudad de “Rynn” el sargento “Pedro Kántor” salió a dirigir la ofensiva en un honorable acto por acabar con tantos enemigos como fuera posible antes de sucumbir a la derrota. En medio de estrepitosas explosiones y gritos de batalla un milagro del Dios-Emperador apareció en el cielo de “Rynn” trayendo refuerzos Imperiales que comenzaron a replegarse por la ciudad en apoyo de los defensores, la fuerzas combinadas de “Astartes” y humanos consiguieron rechazar la invasión de orkos siendo “Pedro Kántor” ascendido a señor del capítulo por sus demostración de heroísmo estoico ante batallas abrumadoras.
El estado actual de los Puños Carmesí sigue en reconstrucción ante las pérdidas sufridas por los orkos y luego por los demonios pero el Liderazgo de “Pedro Kántor” ha permitido una gradual renovación con el reclutamiento de fuerzas “Primaris” y alianza especialista con la “Deathwatch”.
Como dato curioso “Pedro Kántor” tiene unos aproximados 400 años terrestres, siendo un líder joven en comparación a otros maestros del capítulo, las armas predilectas de Kántor son el “puño de combate” que destroza monstruos y el bolter tormenta llamado “Flecha de Dorn” con 800 proyectiles ácidos que perforan vehículos blindados.
Por último la frase:
"Hemos sido gravemente heridos. Sin embargo, todavía estamos en pie, con fuego en nuestros ojos y valor en nuestros corazones. Que piensen que estamos derrotados. Les enseñaremos lo contrario".

Mandi Warner, a graduate student in plant and soil and agriculture from Walterboro, S.C., handles
fungus and other materials Monday in the Agriculture Building. Warner said she spends most of her time in the lab conducting research and subcultures on different fungi from her computer. Some of the university’s colleges have been experiencing grant cuts for the graduate students in their departments. “I ... have not seen much of a change in the lack of grants for the graduate students in my department yet,” she said. “I have heard about other departments, but not mine that I am aware of.”
