People may think that Rodin's Thinker is about intellectual contemplation, but this photo proofs it could also be about your favourite football team not meeting expectations.
It had been 18 years since Feyenoord had last won the championship in the national football competition. Feyenoord is the pride and joy of the city of Rotterdam, a club that thrives on hard work rather than brilliance, and therewith symbolises this city that still has not yet shred its blue collar roots. This weekend the club could have become the champion against a smaller local team, but failed miserably. Feyenoord lost 3-0 against Excelsior, which led to mayhem among the tens of thousands of supporters that had flocked to the city centre. I would like to stress however that the people pictured here were not rioting. Since I don't know where this picture may end up I have blurred the face of the man looking in my direction. He was with the woman in the centre of the scene and comforted and protected her.

Feyenoord's fans had to wait for the last game (archenemy Ajax from Amsterdam was just behind them) until victory was secured and enthusiastically celebrated.
