The Major cloister - Certosa di San Martino Naples
Nel 1325 sulla sommità del colle di Sant'Erasmo, Carlo d'Angiò duca di Calabria, primogenito di Roberto d'Angiò, fece erigere il monastero dell'ordine dei certosini, il preferito della casa reale francese.
Per la realizzazione della Certosa di San Martino fu chiamato l’architetto e scultore senese Tino di Camaino, già famoso per il Duomo di Pisa, e capomaestro della corte angioina.
L’aspetto attuale della Certosa si deve al lavoro di tre architetti: Giovanni Antonio Dosio (1581) che ammorbidì la rigida immagine gotica conferendole un elegante stile rinascimentale, Cosimo Fanzago (1623) artefice della pregiata veste barocca e Nicola Tagliacozzi (1723) che riuscì a sintetizzare nel suo lavoro l’architettura, la pittura e la scultura distintiva del gusto roccocò. Nel corso del tempo lavorarono per i monaci certosini artisti molto rinomati: tra i pittori vi furono Ribera, Battistello Caracciolo, Lanfranco, Luca Giordano, tra gli scultori invece, Giuseppe Sanmartino e Domenico Vaccaro.
In 1325 on the top of the hill of Sant'Erasmo, Carlo d'Angiò, Duke of Calabria, the firstborn of Roberto d'Angiò, had the monastery of the Carthusian order erected, the favorite of the French royal house.
The Sienese architect and sculptor Tino di Camaino, already famous for the Cathedral of Pisa, and master builder of the Angevin court was called for the construction of the Certosa di San Martino.
The current aspect of the Certosa is due to the work of three architects: Giovanni Antonio Dosio (1581) who softened the rigid Gothic image giving it an elegant Renaissance style, Cosimo Fanzago (1623) who created the precious baroque vestment and Nicola Tagliacozzi (1723) who succeeded to summarize in his work the architecture, the painting and the distinctive sculpture of the Rococo taste. Over time very renowned artists worked for the Carthusian monks: among the painters there were Ribera, Battistello Caracciolo, Lanfranco, Luca Giordano, among the sculptors instead, Giuseppe Sanmartino and Domenico Vaccaro.

The Falkenhaus (also called Haus zum Falken) is a representative building on the Marktplatz in Würzburg. It was built in the early 18th century and was used as an inn and dance hall. The gorgeous Rococo facade was constructed in 1751. The city of Würzburg acquired the building in 1939. It was heavily damaged in WW II, but its facade was beautifully restored. Stiftsbibliothek, Kloster St. Gallen / Convent of St Gall
The Benedictine Abbey Library contains some 130,000 volumes, 1,650 incunabula and 2,000 manuscripts. It is housed in a charming Roccoco Library Hall by Peter Thumb (1758-67), with stucco work by the Gigi brothers and ceiling- paintings by Josef Wannenmacher, possesses works which belonged to the old abbey school, one of the leading European capitals of learning in the ninth-11th C., notable particularly in the fields of book illumination, poetry and the translation of Latin works into Alemannic. The finest items in the library are displayed in rotation and include the ninth century "Psalterium Aureum", the "Casus Monasterii Sancti Galli" by Ekkehard IV (11th C.) and Manuscript of the Nibelungenlied (13th C.). The famous plan of St Gallen abbey in 820, displayed under glass, presents the model of a large monastic establishment, a plan which was followed until the end of the Middle Ages. A double sarcophagus of sycamore wood contains a mummy from Upper Egypt (700 B.C.).

Orthodox Church of the Holy Spirit, Vilnius
Unlike the Catholic churches we visited in Lithuania, the Orthodox churches had prominent signs prohibiting photography. There were also fewer sightseers, which made me feel conspicuous among the members of the congregation, the priests and the ladies who staffed tables by the door to the church.
However, our guide in Vilnius explained that no one would object if I took photos, providing I did not photograph services or use flash. I'm so glad he explained that, because it would have killed me had I been unable to capture the spectacular interior.

The Orthodox Church of the Holy Spirit is a Russian Orthodox church in Vilnius, capital of Lithuania, rebuilt 1749–1753 in the Vilnian Baroque style. It should not be confused with the Roman Catholic Church of the Holy Spirit in Vilnius.
History
The site of the present church used to be occupied by a wooden church, following the form a Latin cross, erected in 1638, when Vilnius was part of the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth and was known as Wilno. Associated with the church was a convent, opened in 1567.
After a fire gutted the wooden church in the 18th century, a stone church was erected in 1749–1753 in the Baroque style, with details of the interior in Roccoco style. It was designed by Johann Christoph Glaubitz, an architect of German descent who was noted for developing a Lithuanian school of Baroque architecture, known as Vilnian Baroque.
Architecture
In the 19th century, when Vilnius was part of the Russian Empire, several Byzantine Revival architectural elements were added to the church, but it nevertheless retained its essentially Baroque form. Indeed, the added Orthodox frescoes, Iconostasis and dome enhanced its magnificence, as did the addition of deep blue and green interior decor. Unusual in an Orthodox church are the Scagliola (simulated marble) sculptures. A new reliquary was added in 1853.

Ce qui est magique dans Porto (surtout avec du soleil) ce sont cette multitude des couleurs.
on trouve bien quatre dominantes: le bleu uniforme du ciel, cette couleur incroyable des tuiles identiques partout, le jaune marqué de certaines facade et enfin cette teinte tres douce des pierre de taille des facades baroques ou roccoco.
mais vient s'ajouter des verts, le bleu profond des azulejos ... un espace riche dans lequel toutes les couleurs de la palette d'aquarelle servent! trop cool!!

It was built by will of the Paternò Castello family, the princes of Biscari, starting from the late 17th century, lasting for much of the following century, after the devastations of the 11 January 1693 earthquake.
The new palace was built directly against the city walls (Charles V's walls), which had partially withstood the earthquake.
This is the "Feasts Hall", in Roccoco style, with decoration of mirrors, stuccoes and frescoes
The room shape is inspired by a Spanish guitar and as such would offer a good acoustic
The orchestra would sit on the small dome up in the ceiling thus benefiting from the almost perfect acoustic

I'm in an advanced Fibers Art class this semester, and we had our midterms this past week, yikes.
This was my piece, which was inspired by the Rococo period that I'm learning about in my Renaissance - Modern Art History course. The architecture, fashion, and culture are very inspiring to me. I wanted to do a sculptural piece inspired by different Rococo elements. There are still some finishing touches that I need to do and I will eventually be using it for a large photo shoot, but I wanted to share the documentation of the piece with you all :]
The corset is hand sewn, and the filigree work on the hoop skirt was done with layers upon layers of dimensional paint.
