Parrot tulips are known for their large petals with bright colors that are capriciously shaped and distinctively colored.

The "Rococo" tulip is a velvety red tulip with accents of purple, yellow and green. Yes, the large flowers always have green spots somewhere.

It is still flowering in a pot in my conservatory, but I will soon move it into a bed and hope that it will come back next year.

Papageientulpe 'Roccoco' (Tulipa x Hybrida 'Rococo')

Corners of a few of the buildings surrounding Piazza di Sant'Ignazio.

These Roccocco buildings were all built at the same time, by Filippo Raguzzini in 1727-1728, complete with a piazza. This was all in front of the central Jesuit church Sant'Ignazio (you can see the corner of the church to the far right). And these buildings were not palaces, but rental homes for the middle class - to generate income to the order.

Schönbrunn's gardens and palace in Vienna.

The cathedral of Amiens is a Gothic masterpiece - but the main altar is actually a Rococo creation, complete with a screen made of wood behind it, representing Heaven.

The cathedral, Notre-Dame d'Amiens, dates to the 13th century - founded in 1220 and consecrated some 50 years later, though some work on the church still remained then. The first architect was Robert de Luzarches, who worked on the church until 1228, he was followed by Thomas de Cormont who continued on the work for some 30 years, and then the work was finished by his son Renaud de Cormont. The cathedral is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Övedskloster is a village in the municipality Sjöbo.

After the stage of the city name comes from the monastery associated premonstratensorden based on the location of the 1160s. The monastery turned into secular hands years 1535th Övedskloster Castle, park and access roads with alleys and Ovid church is one of the biggest attractions Sjöbo.

This place used to be a convent, but after the Danish reformation it was remade into a more secular place owned by the Danish crown - before it was given to Otto Lindenow. When the Swedes got hold of Scania after the peace of Roskilde the castle changed owner to Carl Mauritz Lewenhaupt. In 1753 it was bought from the then current Lewenhaupt by his brother-in-law, Hans Ramel, who ordered the building of the current castle. This was made 1765-1776, in roccoco style after drawings made by the architect Carl Hårleman - but he was not alive to do watch over the building himself, that was instead made by another famous architect of the time: Jean Eric Rehn. The castle is still owned by the Ramel family.

When I was a child, I heared the verdict of elder persons, that the assasination attempt against Hitler was done by traitors. Today, 80 years after 20th of July 1944 my German society is proud of Stauffenberg and his group of resistance against Hitler.

Parrot tulips are so named for their unusually bright flowers ... they appeal to artists and free spirits who worship individuality and nuance ... highbrow designers gravitate toward their bizarre shapes and colors as the most trendy moderns, whether as cut flowers or in gardens.

Parrots can produce petals with feathered edges in various textures and densities. The petals may curl in odd directions, twist or wave ... the colors may exhibit flame variations for multiple hues ... among the most exotic is "Rococo," a vivid red that features green, yellow and purple curling accents at the base of the petals.

I am so obsessed with these types of tulips that it encouraged me to create a new group on Parrot Tulips here on Flickr:
