Rob Lowe and me at the Governor's Ball following the telecast of the 61st Annual Academy Awards, 1989.
At the rehearsal the day before I had asked Rob Lowe for a photo and he said "catch me later," so when I spotted him at the Governor's Ball I called in the rain check. I'm not sure he was thrilled, perhaps beginning to realize that his performance on the show that night may have damaged his career. But neither of us knew that at the time this photo was taken.

Rob Roy was born at Glengyle, at the head of Loch Katrine, as proved by the Baptismal Register of Buchanan Parish. His father was Donald MacGregor, and his mother Margaret Campbell. He later met Mary Helen MacGregor of Comar, who was born at Leny Farm, Strathyre, and they were married in Glenarklet in January 1693. She bore him four sons: James (known as Mor or Tall), Ranald, Coll, and Robert (known as Robin Oig or Young Rob). A cousin, Duncan, was later adopted.
JacobiteAlong with many Highland clans, at the age of eighteen Rob Roy together with his father joined the Jacobite rising led by Viscount Dundee to support the Stuart King James who had been deposed by William of Orange. Although victorious in initial battles, "Bonnie Dundee" was killed and their fortunes fell. Rob’s father was taken to jail, where he was held on treason charges for two years. Rob’s mother Margaret’s health faltered and then failed during Donald’s time in prison. By the time Donald was finally released, his wife was dead, and his reason for living also gone. The Gregor chief never returned to his former spirit or health.
Rob Roy was badly wounded at the Battle of Glen Shiel in 1719 which saw the defeat of a Jacobite and Spanish expedition aiming to restore the Stuart monarchy.

Very sad news indeed. Rob Noorlander, motorcycle road and endurance racing champion, Ducati enthusiast, Ducati, Guzzi and Harley specialist, passed away a few days ago.
All those who had the privilege to meet him will never forget his cheerful character, his humour, his expertise, his helpfulness, his open mind and kindness. We will all miss his great stories and his unique way to tell them. We lost a great personality and a good friend.
I guess he will now do a few laps with Mike on a Duc Replica....

This huge raffleasia is one of 3 varieties...all are parasidic on a particular vine that grows in the upper altitudes. They take along time till they reach the flowing stage then only last a few days..nothing sweet smelling about them..they let out a nasty odour to attract flies and insects.
