It was sea-misty but with some periods of brightness. They showed off the beautiful black of Our Bird, a Scrub Blackbird. It was collecting nesting material in a just-watered flowerbed of geraniums in a cliff-top park at Miraflores. Now and then a second bird would utter its really very melodious song. Warszewiczi is for Józef Warszewicz (1812-1866), Polish botanist and inveterate naturalist and traveler. In a second voyage to South America 1851-1853, he was at Guayaquil, Ecuador, robbed of everything he had but continued his travels to Peru until ill health forced him back to Europe.

I received a wonderful surprise from my friend Rob in the mail today. It sure brightened up my day and I'm gonna wait for just the right time to light it up! Thank you Buddy!

Mom: He's preparing the yard to put in a sprinkler system and new grass, Rob..
Rob: That's going to be so pretty!!
Mom: Oh yes and I'm looking forward to being able to take pictures of all the new flowers they have put in.. The lady has already given me permission to do that..
Rob: Oh, Mom.. That will be so much fun!!!

Rob lost his luxurious beard in a tragic accident with some clippers in the hands of an irresponsible hair cutter. Fortunately, for us, he's still a handsome young man.
I just got a new water heater. I never thought I'd see the day when I would get excited about a water heater. When I was a kid, I'd get exited about action figures, as a teenager, a new stereo or video game. Now that I'm "grown up", it's stuff like water heaters! What the hell happened to me?
A Local Landmark Many people who visit Marvig ask the significance of the painted rock by the road junction in the village. A picture of the rock even appears in an Art Gallery in Glasgow by all accounts. Painted on the rock is the legend Thuit Rob an a seo (Rob fell here). The Rob referred to is Seaman Robert Campbell. He was well known for having a dram or two and he fell and split his head on the rock then went home and fell into his bed. When he woke up his head was stuck to the pillow and after examination he was sent to the hospital but he soon signed himself out. By all accounts it was a pretty nasty gash.
