Practically a regular here on Frostclick, Wordsmith returns with a brand new Mixtape, Prelude To the King. True to form, the album is a great display of smooth beats, catchy rhythm, as well as awesome mic skills from Word and crew.

There's really no need to argue whether this mixtape is worth your time. Pretty much anything Wordsmith has released has always held the bar high enough to warrant a listen and eventually a download.

Prelude To The King is no different of course, marching in with 15 tracks that bob and sway with beats worthy of welcoming any hip hop royalty.

As expected the rapper/producer doesn't hold back when it comes to bringing in the cavalry to complete his mix. Featuring contributions from talented producers like Strada and Rafpak as well as other artists like Soulstice, CuzOh!Black, and Steven Drakes to name a few.

The album starts off with a short introductory track titled The Ghost of Wordsmith's Past which is than cleverly followed by The Ghost of Wordsmith's Present and The Ghost of Wordsmith's Future, turning everything you hear into one coherent experience. Moving along, like much of Word's songs, Define Me Classic, does not stop at catchy beats but also display narrative lyrics that share the rapper's definition of his sound.

Certain tracks see the rapper in his comfort zone, take, 8 Track Zoom, for instance. Produced by Strada, the song has a smooth feel which is peppered by skillful rapping from the MC. The song denounces using gadgets/software like ProTools, to enhance sound. Meanwhile, A Hero's Welcome, is quite heartfelt while Southern Symphony, features a more smooth dance, R&B flavor.

Much of the album is composed of easy-listening hip hop cuts; making it another worthwhile download from Wordsmith. Go ahead and grab it while it's hot. It shouldn't disappoint.

Reducing flood risk from Walsden Water

Work to strengthen the culvert under Todmorden Market Hall was completed in December 2011. We will continue to use the compound on the site of the demolished Rose Street Health Centre as a temporary working area for casting concrete wall sections. The short section of footpath adjacent to this working area that we were using has now been reopened.

The work to repair the culverts alongside Rochdale Road has been halted for the winter and will re-start in April 2012 when we will continue installing non-return valves in pipes discharging into the culverts to prevent flood water flowing back up into the street or properties.

From January 2012, we will begin construction of a 500 metre flood wall between Shade Primary School and the Morrison’s superstore. The first section will be between 193 Rochdale Road and Back Waterloo and will be built in sections, varying from 1.2 to 2.8 metres in height. Although made of concrete, the wall will have a natural stone cladding so it blends into the local environment. We have continued with the excavation on the wasteland adjacent to the Wm Morrison supermarket and have now completed our archaeological investigation of the area.

After the constant rain of the last few days I thought the River 'Howy' might be worth a visit.

Here are more pictures I took on a magical walk before breakfast in June along the Stour River near Flatford Mill in "Constable Country" in England.

looking towards Skeldergate Bridge

I took this at about 6:00 AM one gorgeous morning in late June. One of the most perfect walks I've ever taken, with a wonderful breakfast of kedgeree and stone ground out porridge waiting for me back at the room.

I am on my way to school, and running later than usual because it has taken me half an hour to defrost my car, but as I cross the River Ock on the way out of Uffington, I can't resist pulling over for a few moments. The Ock itself is only visible where the dark water opens out before passing under the road. I lean over the hedgerow, straining to see over the top of it, and can just make out the line of trees that marks the course of the Ock, winding away into the mist. I am looking upstream: up towards the source, which is perhaps a mile distant as the crow flies, but the Ock itself winds this way and that across the Vale of the White Horse. I know that this weekend I must find the source: it has become a sort of Holy Grail. I am imagining it already: a chalice of cold, black water, nestled in the hillside. Not that this is becoming an obsession or anything...
