A bridge crosses a stream beside a waterfall ... an interesting experience when the river is in spate :)
The Historic B&O Harmar Bridge connects greater Marietta to the West Side of the city. It dates back to 1856 when it was originally constructed as a covered wagon bridge to cross the Muskingum River at the mouth of the Ohio River.

Nunnington Hall
Nunnington Hall is a country house situated in North Yorkshire. The river Rye, which gives its name to the area of Ryedale, runs past the house, flowing under this bridge which separates the house and grounds from the car park.
The hall is owned, conserved and managed as a visitor attraction by the National Trust.
The first Nunnington Hall seems to date from the the 13th century. It has had many different owners, including William Parr, Dr Robert Huicke, Richard Graham, 1st Viscount Preston, the Rutson family and the Fife family. The present building combines 17th and 18th century architecture. Most of the hall as we see it today was built during the 1680’s when Richard Graham, 1st Viscount Preston, was its owner.
Thank you for your visit and your comments, they are greatly appreciated.
The Luís I Bridge, seen here from Travessa do Cabo Simão on the Vila Nova de Gaia side of the river, near the Infante Bridge, spans the Douro River, connecting this city to Porto. Opened in 1886, it was designed by Belgian engineer Théophile Seyrig, a former partner of Gustave Eiffel and co-designer of the nearby Maria Pia Bridge. With a span of 172 meters and a height of about 45 meters, it features a bi-articulated parabolic arch metal structure that, at the time of its construction, was the largest metal arch of its kind in the world. It has two decks: the upper deck, currently used by Line D of the Porto Metro and by pedestrians, and the lower deck, intended for vehicular and pedestrian traffic. In the background, the Porto Cathedral, the Bishop’s Palace, and the houses of Ribeira stand out; this area has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1996. At the pier, one can also see the traditional rabelo boats, historically used to transport casks of Port wine from the Upper Douro to the cellars in Gaia.
Spent a couple of days in our capital city to photograph some of the landmarks. I know this view of London Skyline has been done many times before, but as I was there, I had to have my go. Especially as the sky was so lovely & blue and the sun was shining. Due to it being such a lovely day, there were a lot of tourists about, but I think they ,make this picture though.
One of my bucket list shots, to photo a steam loco crossing the bridge from North Queensferry . Even better than Id hoped, it was the Flying Scotsman on its way to Aberdeen.
This original bridge was all but destroyed by floodwaters which hit Pakistan in May 2010, in one of the worst natural disasters the country had ever faced. Now the original bridge remains, quite literally hanging by a thread, while travelers pass over the equally rickety new bridge that runs alongside it.

Seven and a half years ago I shot a series of exposures of a herd of deer crossing the river. Four years ago I uploaded one of those photos to Flickr...very different from this one. I guess it is about time to show another one.
I uploaded this way down my stream. I'm now moving it to the top FOR THE FIRST TIME. You've never seen it before, unless you happened to look well down my stream last night.
and a wet cowboy - this guy was having trouble with his horse, I've seen many wrecks crossing rivers but never captured one. I will this year, it's on my happy list ;-)
I can't believe I just spent an hour and a half on a shot description (and lunch) and inadvertently deleted it!! Oh well. All I can say now is...metaphors and symbolism :-)
I appreciate the offers but please ***NO INVITES OR GROUP ICONS***

The Parc National des Pyrénées is a national park located within the French départements of Hautes-Pyrénées and here above the Pyrénées-Atlantiques. Located along the border of France and Spain is a scenic and mountainous landscape offering a variety of outdoor activities including hiking, skiing, mountain climbing and observing wildlife. According to the Pyrénées National Park website, the park, created in 1967, is a natural heritage without barriers or fences where animals are totally free. Devoted to preserving biodiversity and landscapes, studying wildlife and plant species, the park is home to 70 different species of animals. Animals like: ermine, stoat, bear, desman, pine marten, wild boar, fox, lammergaier or bearded vulture etc. Only the bear's situation is worrying, their numbers have been steadily declining for the last 30 years only 6 individuals left today. The eastern portion of the national park forms part of the French section of the Pyrénées - Mont Perdu World Heritage Site that straddles the border between France and Spain. The oceanic influence gives the French, Northern slopes a mild and humid climate while the Southern winds give the Spanish slopes an arid look.

Looking up under the double twin span Cedar Avenue Bridge that takes MN Highway 77 across the Minnesota River Valley between the Twin Cities suburbs of Bloomington and Eagan. It's the longest 'in-state' bridge in Minnesota.
I've had a few questions if this was a flipped or mirrored in Photoshop and no, it really looks like this underneath. John Weeks does a good job at documenting this place at: www.johnweeks.com/bridges/pages/mn03.html

The Pyrenees also spelled Pyrenées Spanish: Pirineos; French: Pyrénées; Catalan: Pirineus; Occitan: Pirenèus; Aragonese: Perinés; Basque: Pirinioak are a range of mountains in southwest Europe that form a natural border between France and Spain. They separate the Iberian Peninsula from the rest of continental Europe, and extend for about 430 km. For the most part, the main crest forms a massive divider between France and Spain, with the tiny country of Andorra sandwiched in between. Gabas is a hamlet nearby in the valley of the Gave d'Ossau in the French Pyrenees. It is located where that river is formed by the confluence of two mountain streams, the Gave de Bious and the Gave du Brousset, which flow respectively from the western and eastern sides of the Pic du Midi d'Ossau - 2,884 m.
We were high up in the Pyrenees at the mountain stream Gave du Brousset at elevation of 1241 meter. Pyrenean Aubrac cows crossing the cold mountain stream quite easily. This river is located 3km from the mountain pass Portalet d'Aneu and border crossing in the Pyrenees, between France and Spain.

Preston's new Tram Bridge officially opened to the public on May 22, 2026. This £6.6 million, 130-metre steel structure spans the River Ribble, reconnecting Avenham Park in the city centre with Penwortham and South Ribble. The original 200-year-old tram bridge was closed in 2019 due to concerns about its potential collapse.

This is Memorial Bridge — Phra Phuttha Yodfa Bridge — over the Chao Phraya River in Bangkok, shot straight off the deck of a dinner cruise as our boat came up on it. King Rama VII opened this bridge in 1932 to mark 150 years since the founding of the city. It was Bangkok's first permanent crossing over the river, built for a city that didn't yet know how big it was about to become.
Here's why I set the camera the way I did. Shooting from a moving boat at night rules out a tripod completely — the deck vibrates, the boat drifts with the current, and there's no fixed point to brace against. So the first decision was aperture: wide open at f/2.8 on the 24-70mm GM II, to pull in as much light as the lens allows. Second decision was shutter speed. At 1/60 sec I'm right at the edge of what you can hand-hold steady at 70mm, but any slower and both the boat's motion and my own hand would smear the bridge lighting into streaks. Fast enough to freeze the structure, slow enough to still catch some of that reflection trailing on the water.
That left ISO to do the rest of the work. ISO 12800 is high, and yes, there's visible noise in the shadows if you look close. But a clean, low-noise frame that's blurred from camera shake is worthless, while a slightly noisy frame that's sharp is usable. On the Sony Alpha 7 IV, that trade-off is worth making — the sensor holds color and detail well even up there, and a bit of grain reads as atmosphere in a night shot like this, not as a flaw.
70mm on the FE 24-70mm f/2.8 GM II let me compress the bridge against the skyline behind it, pulling the steel trusses and the glass towers closer together in the frame than they actually are — that compression is what gives the shot its sense of old infrastructure standing right in front of the new city.
That's the calculation behind almost every low-light shot I take from a moving boat: light-gathering first, motion control second, noise as the acceptable cost.

Clara Vale Bridge, one of Wicklow’s oldest surviving stone bridges, spans the Avonmore River in the peaceful Vale of Clara. Surrounded by ancient oak woodland and rural scenery, this 17th‑century structure remains a beautiful example of Irish craftsmanship and a favourite spot for photographers exploring County Wicklow’s hidden landscapes.
The section of the hiking trail leading to the Sotillo Waterfall winds through a dense native forest in the Lake Sanabria and the Segundera and Porto Mountains Natural Park, in the far northwest of the province of Zamora, in Castile and León. Designated a natural park in 1978 and expanded in 2017, this protected area covers approximately 32,302 hectares. It is home to Lake Sanabria, the largest glacial lake on the Iberian Peninsula, shaped by the action of Quaternary glaciers in the Tera River basin. The vegetation includes Pyrenean oaks (Quercus pyrenaica), birches, holly, and a dense undergrowth of ferns, all favored by the humidity and Atlantic mountain conditions. The trail surface, marked by exposed roots, granite boulders, and damp soil, highlights the rugged terrain and the persistent influence of water. The Sotillo Waterfall is located in the valley of the same name, a route that features well-preserved forests and follows the watercourses that feed into the Tera River.
