Nunnington Hall
Nunnington Hall is a country house situated in North Yorkshire. The river Rye, which gives its name to the area of Ryedale, runs past the house, flowing under this bridge which separates the house and grounds from the car park.
The hall is owned, conserved and managed as a visitor attraction by the National Trust.
The first Nunnington Hall seems to date from the the 13th century. It has had many different owners, including William Parr, Dr Robert Huicke, Richard Graham, 1st Viscount Preston, the Rutson family and the Fife family. The present building combines 17th and 18th century architecture. Most of the hall as we see it today was built during the 1680’s when Richard Graham, 1st Viscount Preston, was its owner.
