There are quite a lot of railroad bridges crossing the Ruhr river, and most of them have this 'decay with dignity' ambiance about them...

I visited Düsseldorf on Marathon weekend the other day, and while others were busy pursuing their 42-km best, I leisurely checked out the city's sights...
Long exposure (218 seconds) of the Sastavci waterfall at the end of a total of 16 Plitvice lakes. So I could "hide" the many people on the footbridge right up.

Awesome became awful when some of these daredevils jumped from the the steep hill! An unbelievable experience watching thousands of wildebeest moving forward and finally cross the river!.

Seeing these elephants cross the Sabi-Sands river in Southern Africa was amazing. There had been a lot of rain while we were there, and the river was higher than normal for this time of year. The elephants stayed together, and were very careful. I'm so glad there were no mishaps and they all crossed safely.

Almost everything in Salzburg is related to or being marketed as related to Mozart, the grand son of this town, to an extent that one does not want to see another Mozart reference anymore. So it comes as no surprise that there is also a Mozart bridge. At least and in concordance with history, it is an old pedestrian bridge wearing the title Mozartsteig with pride and it makes for a nice river crossing.

Originally, the Okinawan water buffalos were raised to develop farmlands, and cultivate paddy fields. These water buffalo now are used to transport tourists across a 200 meter shallow channel to Yubu island. These buffalos are strong and capable of pulling a 20-person cart.

The London Millennium Footbridge, is a steel suspension bridge for pedestrians crossing the River Thames in London, linking Bankside with the City of London. Construction began in 1998, and it initially opened in June 2000.
Londoners nicknamed it the "Wobbly Bridge" after pedestrians experienced an alarming swaying motion on its opening day. The bridge was closed later that day and, after two days of limited access, closed again for almost two years while modifications and repairs were made to keep the bridge stable. It reopened in February 2002.
Hmm, not sure what excited me more, the idea of negotiating that crumbling bridge or the option to balance along that log to cross the river canyon ... it's all about choices, isn't it?!
Serengeti National Park, Tanzania
A few of the 1.5 million Wildebeest that migrate around the Serengeti every year. In late September large groups, hundreds strong, cross the Mara River as they head back south.
Back in September of 2017, IC 1028 leads a manifest out of Stevens Point on the Superior Subdivision across the Wisconsin river.
Little did I know that a year later, these IC SD70s would be in local service around the Chicago area.
There were 10 rivers to cross, this one was the easiest to cross. It was too hard to take photos from the moving vehicle as we continued onto Palm Valley!

Mara River crossing is a major event during the great migration of wildebeests in East Africa.
It started about 50 m upstream from us. Since current of the river was rapid, wildebeests in the river were swept downstream. Consequently, the starting point of the crossing moved downstream and then became just in front of us for a while. We enjoyed detailed view of the crossing at the starting point.

Having crossed the bridge of faith...(Certainly NOT a bridge you close your eyes and hope for the best.) and heading off up.
As the sun was out today for the first time in weeks, thought I would go for a drive about. Ended up at the Southwold /Walberswick footbridge, thought I would do another long exposure of 60 seconds to get the clouds streaking across the sky.

Photo taken during the dry season - even then we had to drive through the water. In the wet season many roads are flooded and impassable in the area.
It was cold and misty this morning, dew laden cobwebs everywhere. I came across about 20 red deer having breakfast in a field. Something off over the far side was making them nervous, and having taken a few shots I decided they might look more interesting on the move. It didn't take much to get them to react and they headed off over the brow, leaping a couple of fences on the way. Their direction of travel suggested they would come out by the river, and after racing down the track I found them gathered at the edge, contemplating the crossing, before there was a splash and several started across. Unfortunately only one very immature stag in this group
