At this point I feel full. I am lucky to obtain so many gorgeous dolls and to be getting the opportunity to attend the convention this year. This might be just the starter and I actually didn’t see this coming. I now have two holy grail Hommes in my hand. It’s Rock Ringmaster Lukas and Mission Moscow Takeo! When I think of the best Homme dolls, I think of these two and I’m so ecstatic I have them! They are the best versions of the characters. Lukas in particular is not easy to get, not when you have to pay at least $300 for him. As of now I don’t really need their stock fashions but I will surely hunt them down in the future. I got my Style Strategy Lukas from Australia last year and once again I got these two from the land down under. Thank you shadow-doll for an awesome trade. They will fill a huge missing chunk on my wishlist. You have no idea how big of a deal having them with me.:D

American Circus Day April 3

American Circus Day takes place on the anniversary of the first circus performance in America, which occurred on today's date in Philadelphia in 1793. The modern circus had been created just decades before, by Philip Astley in England. He had opened a horse riding school in London in 1768, where he taught during the day and performed riding tricks in the afternoon. His building had a circular arena called a circus, which was later known as a ring. Equestrian feats were the focus of early circuses, but in 1770, Astley added acrobats, jugglers, rope-dancers, and clowns to his show, to perform between the main horse-related acts.

British equestrian John Bill Ricketts came to America and debuted the circus in Philadelphia on April 3, 1793. The circus was held in a roofless arena that had 800 seats. George Washington attended one of its early performances, later that month.

Circuses were originally in wooden structures, which were especially popular in England. Bigger cities in the United States, such as New York and Philadelphia, also became home to these structures. But America did not become known for its stationary circuses, but for the traveling circus. In 1825, Joshuah Purdy Brown became the first to replace the wooden building with a canvas tent. Within a decade this became the norm. Brown also is noteworthy because he added an African elephant to his show. Other exotic animals were soon added, and menageries became commonplace in circuses. The Zoological Institute was formed in 1835, solidifying the traveling circus format. Circuses in the United States became more business oriented, in contrast to those in Europe that were usually controlled by families.

Equestrians were still the stars of circuses into the mid-nineteenth century when acrobats began getting more of the attention. Tight-rope dancers were some of the first acrobats, and the trapeze was soon developed, which became one of the most prized parts of the circus. By the time that World War I ended, equestrians were no longer part of circuses.

In 1871, Phineas Taylor Barnum and William Cameron Coup formed P.T. Barnum's Museum, Menagerie & Circus. The "museum" of this traveling circus show came to be known as a sideshow and included animal and human oddities. The following year the circus began traveling by train, and a second ring was also added to the circus. A third ring was added in 1881, and eventually even more rings were added. This was done so that more people could conveniently watch the circus. Also in 1881, Barnum merged with James Bailey, and the Barnum and Bailey Circus was soon formed.

Another large circus in the late-nineteenth century was the Ringling Brothers Circus. It merged with Barnum and Bailey in 1919 to form the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus. Although this circus closed down in 2017, and controversy has surrounded the use of some animals in circuses, many circuses remain, and contemporary circuses are also now popular.

How to Observe

Mark the anniversary of the arrival of the first circus in America by going to a circus! You could also plan a visit to the International Circus Hall of Fame located in Peru, Indiana USA, or the Circus World Museum located in Baraboo, Wisconsin USA. Why not really get into the spirit of the day and join the circus yourself? There are many schools and training centers around the United States that could help get you on your way. If you don't feel up to joining the circus, perhaps you'd feel more comfortable watching The Circus, At the Circus, Dumbo, or The Greatest Show on Earth.

My first pet portrait with a cat. Quite the adventure. I couldn't use strobes because it would freak out the cat, so I used continuous light and turned the room into a sauna.

Modi is a Savannah - one step removed from wild catdom. And he's as precious as he looks. And Gren is, well... just look at her!

Yuri: “Correct.” *exits to the pantry*

Kumi: *leans against the counter, stares at the oven, ready to take action*

--Strident ding—

Kumi: *grabs a potholder, opens the oven, and retrieves the cakes* “Cakes are out!” *places the pan on the stove top*

Yuri: *from the pantry* “I suppose I should gather all the supplies I will need for the next few projects, since you seem incapable of helping in that regard.”

Kumi: “Did you find the cake flour?”

Yuri: “Of course I found it. It was at eye-level, in the front, precisely as I told you.”

Kumi *mimics Yuri silently, making faces all the while*

Yuri: “You best be finished mocking me by the time I depart this pantry, Kumi, because if I see it, bad things will befall you. Very bad things.”

Kumi: *crosses arms* “Bake sales sure make you grouchy!”

--Silence from the Pantry—

Kumi: “Silent treatment. Great.”

Lukas: *groggily walks into the kitchen, unaware of his surroundings, and suffering from a severe case of early morning fuzz-brain*

Kumi: *watches Luke soundlessly, mischievous expression creeping over her face*

Lukas: *opens the fridge, rummages around inside, voice rough* “Mornin’, babe.”

Kumi: *mimicking Yuri, purrs* “Hello, darling. Would you like me to pour you a cup of coffee?”

Lukas: *head still in the fridge* “Uh…yeah. Please.”

Kumi: *grabs a mug, fills it three-quarters full, and sidles up to Luke* “Here you are, Lukas. I know you do not function properly until you have had your coffee. Rest assured, I left room for you to complement it with milk, precisely as you prefer it…darling.”

Lukas: *straightens up, milk in hand* “Thanks, babe…*leans in for a kiss, stops an inch from Kumi’s face, blinks, and lets out a horrified scream*

Kumi: *doubles over laughing, leaning on the counter for support* “I’d say *chortles*...you scream like a girl, but *gurgles*…that’d be an insult to girls everywhere.”

Lukas: *backs up quickly, banging into the open fridge door, clutching milk to his chest* “What the hell are you doing here at this hour?”

Hotdogが固有のメッシュボディ対応になったので、久々にSlinkボディを使った。

Slinkも大分バージョンが進んでいたので、スキン貼りからはじめることに。

Hotdogのスタンダードスタイルが極めて痩せ型なので、体型も細くしたけど、顔痩せもして、より怪しい人になったかと思うｗｗｗ

ちなみにSlinkと言えば爪（個人的印象ｗ）なので、Koffin Nailsのゴスイメージのものを貼った。

ここのデザインはメンズでも合うものが多いのでオススメ。黒一色よりも手がきれいに見えると思う。

About these photo

I finally put together my ‘big project’ diorama! The window with sliding sashes and the window surround with shutters and balcony - some of you may remember it from way back! The cobbled ‘street’ is a wallpaper ‘sample’ from my local DIY store. The window panes are 1/12 scale and the surround was hand built by me using part of a photo frame for the ‘pediment’, shutters and surround built by hand from strips of wood and skewers and the little balcony I found on a kitcsh photo frame that I’m afraid went ‘under the hammer’ (literally!) I need to find that collage I did for this project and upload it again.
