The Riddler is 36-year-old Troy Blanch. Having fronted blues bands for almost twenty years, he is no stranger to the frontman role and takes it very seriously.

"I've always been a little bit of a public speaker right from when I was in primary school," he says.

"It's sort of always been in me, so it was a natural progression really, to go in front of bands."

He is also the only band member who was not originally keen to be part of The Villains.

He remembers being approached by West to sing and says that it was the band's intention to rock songs up that attracted his attention.

"If it had just been flat out 80's sort of bubblegummy pop music, I probably wasn't interested," he says.

Even so, he spent the next six months expecting to leave.

"A lot of the repertoire I just didn't like when it was popular," he says.

But over time, the band grew on him. After he played a few shows, he realised how well The Villains were being received.

"I was realising just how much potential the band had of being popular and drawing a big audience," he says.

"At the same time, I was also realising how much I was enjoying doing that repertoire and getting dressed up because these were all things that I'd never done before."

A year later, the band feels like family to him.
