It's rare, but no post processing here! My very first shot too, for the two days I had with her.

Still got some room to visit the BBQ and Asian stations. We used to stop at a Chinese food buffet in CT on this trip, but compared to this casino buffet, that was a bit of a dive.

Here we've got chicken wings, mac & cheese, pork riblets, knockwurst, onion rings, some BBQ pulled beef, and potato salad. This should hold me for a while.

She just wouldn't sit still.

A traditional Newfoundland meal of salt riblets, peas pudding, carrots, turnips, potatoes, cabbage.

A meal guaranteed to keep several cardiac surgeons in practice for the next ten years.

My 2012 WPPD entry

I used a Nikon D700 with a zone plate body cap. This amaryllis in my backyard is actually coral in color. It came out a brilliant red because I shot it back-lit by the sun with custom color settings in my camera.

My mother's side of the family.

My mom is doing much better today, many days after quadruple bypass heart surgery! She is in intermediary care now. She has started walking and is doing arm exercises.

October 27, 2008. I try to like Saint John, I really do. But this is the view outside my hotel window (the Delta Saint John) - I can't even open my window because of the smoke (which the front desk says isn't there). Cold (and thus uneaten) riblets, tepid coffee. Sigh. Close my curtains, take a Strepsil for the sore throat, make a fresh pot of coffee and hunker down and watch the ball game. Oh, and listen to some Elton John.

It's now been deemed the Ma-Ca-Gi-riblet maneuver.

BBQ riblets, mac & cheese, teriyaki wings, potato salad, and another piece of that prime rib. Always get the prime rib, kids.

Ahhhh..The jack bauer saga continues. In the very beginning about a year or so ago the original phrase was, " I Love JAck Bauer." The I not meaning myself, but rather the sister-in-law who has a thing for Kiefer Sutherland. Over months my husband (her brother) kept messing with the sign to say all sorts of..lets say interesting things. It slowly evolved into "Jack Bauer Luvs ________" (fill in the blank) So far Jack has loved pygmies, riblets, ghettos, yetis, giblets, hobo's, bingo, & the ever popular whores. When the boy started taking interest in reading these and then asking questions it was decided to keep it cleaner. So anyway, for this months Helix challenge I dedicate this one for the hunt.

Last Friday my neighbor Ken died at age 93. It turns out he liked to garden and this is one of his cactus blooms. His daughter Rose asked me to shoot this Epiphillium and wanted to know what I would charge for a print. I gave her the print today (free of charge) and she is going to have the print framed and displayed next to a portrait of Ken at his funeral.

Well after many delays getting my new computer I'm finally editing and uploading photos again. Feels good!

dinner from last week - gardenburger bbq riblets & delicious local sweet corn :)

This was an experiment I tried. It's two mailing tubes, one inside the other, both painted black on the inside. The outer tube has a cap with a zoneplate in the center. The inside tube has a piece of white plastic stretched tight like a drum over the front opening. The white plastic is like ground glass and is the plane the image is focused on. Behind the white plastic is my D70 with the lens stuck into the tube to take the shot of the "ground glass".

I got this idea from Adam Holte.

I wanted to cook Daikons in a different way (besides Sinigang and Pickles) so I searched online for a recipe. I found Vietnamese Braised Pork Riblets with Daikon (Suon Kho Cu Cai Trang) which I adapted using what we had on hand... like Chicken and Portobello Mushrooms. It was good. I need to buy more Daikons.

Lamb riblets from Greyfield's Farm. These were cooked for a couple of hours at 275 and dipped in blueberry habanero chutney. Good stuff!

Happy Holidays to you and your families!

This image was captured for Worldwide Pinhole Photography Day 2007. Used my Nikon D70 with f/65 zone plate bodycap; 400 ISO; Objects in image are "light painted" with flashlights in a dark room. You can see the original version here: www.pinholeday.org/gallery/2007/index.php?id=806
