ITW and JohnK85 reused and figured out how to keep a sticker on the street and give out free art...one part of the reuse postal label is paper and it conveniently flaps in the wind and is held on by the upper sticker part of the reuse postal label...I was a part of the recent ReUse Exhibition: www.flickr.com/photos/johnk85/sets/72157602333328985/

L's roommate brought a shoebox full of black t-shirts to a Hanukkah party white elephant gift exchange. The poor sap who got stuck with it left it behind, so I swiped it and made this kicky skirt out of a pair of shirts.

Trash picked a bunch of old hinges (c. 1900) from this house under remodel - they were covered in about 15 layers of paint, but after a little stripper and some steel wool, they are quite fetching.

The 4th graders made little people with old/broken/recyclable stuff. Inventive and funny.

In honor of Purse Palooza 2012, I made a reusable grocery bag. This project was also a great stash buster! totallystitchin.net/articles/purse-palooza-2012

Residents learned how to #reduce #waste, #reuse and #recycle during the holidays and beyond at the Brookside Gardens’ Garden of Lights. Reusable bags were distributed to residents as they left the Visitor Center.

Here's another second life for the security envelopes : re-used as part of packaging. (March 27th 2009)

I made this because I wanted a reuseable shopping bag that could fold up neatly and not get tangled up with all my worldly possessions in my ever-unruly everyday bag. I love how useful it is to have around, and I love how more and more people are getting used to the idea of people carrying their own reuseable bag. Fewer people give me funny looks these days!

Reusing 24oz Cups as no-spill paint holders!

We live in a disposable society.

It's easier to throw things out than to fix them.

We even give it a name... we call it RECYCLING.

Did You Know?

Proper disposal of used cooking oil is an important waste-management concern. Oil is lighter than water and tends to spread into thin and broad membranes which hinder the oxygenation of water. Because of this, a single litre of oil can contaminate as much as 1 million litres of water. Also, oil can congeal on pipes provoking blockages.

Because of this, cooking oil should never be dumped in the kitchen sink or in the toilet bowl. The proper way to dispose of oil is to put it in a sealed non-recyclable container and discard it with regular garbage.

Cooking oil can be recycled. It can be used to produce soap and biodiesel.

Renew, reuse and recycle were the topics of discussion at the Earth Day event sponsored by the U.S. Army Research Laboratory at the APG North youth center April 13. Children from local schools and children who attend the child development and youth centers participated in hands-on activities and discussion, from renewable energy to composting. See the April 19 edition of the APG News, www.apgnews.apg.army.mil, for the full story.

The base of this tree is the base of a computer mouse. The trunk is made from a cable which consisted of several wires sheathed in coloured plastic, all wrapped in a shield of fine wires (which become the thin twigs at the top). The rest of the roots and branches are thicker wires which also wrap the trunk and hold it in place. The catkins are resistors.

smontare stampanti usate e non più funzionanti senza dover pensare di rimontarle è un'attività veramente rilassante, che regala non pochi componenti elettronici praticamente a gratis.

E adesso cosa ci facciamo? avete delle proposte?

My aunt asked if I would make her some bags similar to the reusable ones you can buy at the grocery store. She said those bags were "atrocious" and wanted nicer looking ones. So I took some creative liberties and made her some of these things. All made from scratch...made the bags, screen printed the globes and sewed the globe patch on.

The Johanna O’Dea Court is a public housing block in Sydney’s Camperdown, renown for ignored pleas for help when a stabbing took place and rats as big as cats according to the UK’s Daily Mail Australia.

I can attest to no sightings of either on my early morning visit, but I did catch a lovely moon above the apartment block.

Old, circa ~2009 lawn mower left on the side of the road around here ("broken"). Washed off the grime, cleaned the rust off the spark plugs, changed the oil, and it was running as good as new! (sold it to someone else on Craiglist for a tidy profit last week ;-)
