Love this picture of an old pink 2CV car reused as a big flowerpot!

We're striving to reduce packaging waste in our store. We'll give you one of these reusable, lightweight, comfortable, thermally bondable, soft, strong, stain resistant, recyclable, totally awesome bags for free when you make purchases at the Threadless store. Then, bring it back all the other times you come by and we'll give you a dollar off of each non-sale garment you purchase! So, if you buy 5 shirts, you get $5 off!

The bags are made of Non-Woven Polypropylene, a 100% recyclable fiber.

I am enthralled over these little baskets made from greeting cards...I found this one at an antique store.

The reformed HDPE bags were weak from overheating, and did not have much elasticity left. Too bad... maybe if I'd been more careful making them they would have fit over the shoe-shaped template.

How to handle storm-damaged trees? This unique solution was spotted by Field Staffer Jim: Several years ago, I gave a presentation on recycling to the Burnt Mills Civic Association. The neighborhood had recently been hit by a large storm that had knocked down a number of large old trees. After the meeting, we walked around to look at the damage. One resident stopped and commented that the tree at this house looked like a dinosaur, very large, old and majestic. When I drove by a few weeks ago, it had been transformed into this beautiful wooden totem display – a sight to behold! Reusing something from nature for art’s sake is a win!

Reuse is fun! An old sweater with worn out cuffs, a t-shirt with a nice motif, but now too small, and a trouser with holes and no elastic anymore - turned into a new sweater!

Cast off lamp rewired, repurposed some worn out cameras as accents, and created a shade from old slides.

I created this myself,it is a reusable tie dye maxi pad!

The dress I made from a 50p pillowcase, not one bit was thrown away.

The flowers were my daughter's idea, the whole photo shoot was her creative input, yes, at 4 yrs old.

They could quite possibly be the best grocery bag ever!

They are identical to the typical plastic grocery bag that you find in every store...but these are not plastic. They are made from reclaimed vintage fabric making them light weight, but still super sturdy. They are cut on the fold...eliminating any seam on the bottom of the bag. All edges are serged, no raw edges. I now make them with a simple strap/snap closure. This makes them nice and tidy...easy to stuff several in your purse, car, or diaper bag. There handles easily loop over the metal holders at the grocery stores. The vintage prints are snazzy and might even make grocery shopping a little more fun.

Reduce, reuse, and recycle--i thought this was a cool way to resuse old water bottles. filled with colored water, people can just make different patterns.

Reusable shopping bag to use each time you go to a store. This is so we can use it again and again and not have to use new ones that we simply throw away after we use them.

Reduce:

1. the amount of packaging by buying products in bulk

2. the amount of paper consumption in the office, school, etc. DON'T BE A TREE-KILLER!

Recycle:

1. all aluminum cans and plastic bottles

2. newspapers, magazines, junk mail, and paper

3. all old electronics and clothing at specific facilities and/or donation centers instead of dumping them in the trash

4. yard waste: leaves, branches, grass, etc.

Reuse:

1. buy products that are made from recycleable materials

2. find creative ways to reuse paper and boxes

a beautiful vintage tablecloth found at the op shop now being used as a curtain in the laundry

I like the large one by the stove, the small goes in a caddy on the table. The smaller was an ice wine bottle - they are great bottles! I want some more ice wine bottles, preferrably clear, for salad dressing/vinegar mixtures. The spouts are cheap at a local kitchen supply shop.

This is one of my favorite wine glasses. I'm sure it's not a perfect design to appreciate the qualities of finer wine, but it's still wonderful to me.

It's made from a Rose's Lime Juice Bottle. That's the top of the bottle turned over onto the former bottom.

I purchased it years ago from the now-defunct garden.com. They gave out gift certificates for $15 of free merchandise to attract buyers. I used mine to get this and some seeds or something else I don't recall. I should have immediately bought a few more, but I didn't. And now after searching, I cannot find anymore. I did find someone with an etsy shop who might be able to replicate this glass. Let's all hope!

Repairing a broken old chair

The Maison Blanche Building was constructed in 1908 to house the department store on the lower levels and offices above. The Maison Blanche Department Store was founded in 1897. The Canal Street flagship was open until 1979 when the company went through bankruptcy. It was eventually reopened in 1984. Mercantile Stores purchased the chain in 1992 and then Mercantile was acquired by Dillards in 1998. Dillards promptly closed the downtown store (as they did with most chains they acquired). The building was adaptively reused as a Ritz-Carlton Hotel and reopened in 2000.

Technically found in the French Quarter (Vieux Carre Historic District ) which is on the National Register #66000377 and a National Historic Landmark.

DW's been using this swim diaper for all the times he's been swimming! It's great, the material is soft and it dries fast! More on this nappy at manilamommy.com
