Little Canada Goose goslings are growing up so fast, but a few of the ones I saw on June 9th were still at the cute stage : ) I love to see them when they are out for a walk with Mom and Dad and then suddenly flop to the ground. Seen at a local wetland in south west Calgary.
I loved walking around my grandparents farm, there was always something interesting hiding in the bushes..
So I finally gave in and purchased a used Holga from ebay. it came in today and I panicked as I had no 100 or 200 iso film. Something told me to just shoot tri-x 400 and see what happened. I developed at home in my patterson and was BLOWN AWAY by the rendering and tones. Wow...might be my new fav 120 film camera for fun stuff - I scanned this on my epson v550 at about 1200dpi
The Wood Stork (Mycteria americana) is the only native species of storks found in the United States. It's an endangered species that is at risk of losing it's "Endangered" status because storks have been observed in coastal States near Florida. That might sound like a good thing. But...not so fast.
Seeing Storks in a wider range may make them seem commonplace, but if they become less and less successful at breeding, what does the future hold for them?
The Everglades and other protected areas in Florida are under tremendous environmental pressures, from human encroachment as the population of Florida expands; from agricultural endeavors that divert water and change the quality of the water; from natural disasters; and, from invasive species. So as the Stork goes, maybe so goes the rest.
