Delmar, Laurel and Sharptown Fire Dept's were dispatched for a reported commerical building fire at Bury Boat & Marine in Delmar, Delaware.
"The Washington population of the Black Oystercatcher is estimated to be roughly 400 birds. This number is probably not significantly different from the historical population, as these birds require fairly specialized habitat, which is not evenly distributed. Oystercatchers are highly vulnerable to human disturbance, oil spills, and pollution of the intertidal zone. Numbers of Black Oystercatchers on the outer coast may be higher than in the past, in part due to decreased human disturbance resulting from lighthouse automation. Numbers in inland areas, however, have declined in response to increased human activity. The Northern Pacific Coast Regional Shorebird Management Plan has identified the Black Oystercatcher as a regional species of high concern."
"The Black Oystercatcher is restricted in its range, never straying far from shores, in particular favoring rocky shorelines. It has been suggested that this bird is seen mostly on coastal stretches which have some quieter embayments, such as jetty protected areas. It forages in the intertidal zone, feeding on marine invertebrates, particularly molluscs such as mussels, limpets and chitons. It will also take crabs, isopods and barnacles. It hunts through the intertidal area, searching for food visually, often so close to the water's edge it has to fly up to avoid crashing surf. It uses its strong bill to dislodge food and pry shells open."

I had a tough time here with harsh sunlight and a mix of shadows, bighorns are such magnificent animals.
Asters are gorgeous perennial plants that supposedly blooms in response to shorter days. This year, my asters provided a fantastic show and I loved looking at them every day to examine their star-like flowers.
I am proud of these photos-I think I captured the perfect light and colors. Maybe not in your eyes, yet I am happy when I do not feel I have to use post processing. What my camera (in its own inside processing) and I do, in this case, looks great to me. I couldn't choose just one to post. I hope you enjoy them, too.
Cycle response rider in attendance. The gentleman being seen to was sitting up and concious therefore I assume to be alright. By the look of the riders expression and the actions of the man he is looking at his services are required elsewhere. Thank goodness for the NHS Cycle Response Unit.
A pair of Swindon-built 'Cross Country' Class 120 DMUs pass Dorrington on 18th April 1981 on what is thought to be a Shrewsbury - Swansea Cantral Wales Line service. The leading unit, Set C600 formed of W50664 & W50702, is fitted with a headlight affixed specifically for Central Wales Line trains. The Response Boat – Medium (RB-M) is a 45-foot (14 m) utility boat used by the United States Coast Guard. It is a replacement for the Coast Guard's retired fleet of 41-foot (12 m) utility boats (UTB), which had been in use by the Coast Guard since the 1970s.

During Swift Response 2023 exercise I was able to attend some practices at Bardenas Reales shooting range in Spain by USAF A10s. No real fire (not even BRRRRRRRT, because of the ammunition) but great flying demos, some of them for the media. A great day!
The National War Memorial (titled The Response) is a tall, granite memorial arch with accreted bronze sculptures in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, designed by Vernon March and first dedicated by King George VI in 1939. Originally built to commemorate the Canadians who died in the First World War, it was in 1982 rededicated to also include those killed in the Second World War and Korean War and again in 2014 to add the dead from the Second Boer War and War in Afghanistan, as well as all Canadians killed in all conflicts past and future. It now serves as the pre-eminent war memorial of 76 cenotaphs in Canada. In 2000, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier was added in front of the memorial and symbolizes the sacrifices made by all Canadians who have died or may yet die for their country.

Cornell's Birds of the World explains in a discussion of response to predators, "In urgent situations, adults use distraction displays running in a crouched posture away from intruder. While running, adults may also depress their tails to ground, spread their rectrices [tail feathers], or flap their wings to feign injury. Sometimes they pause and lie flat on ground while continuing to flap their wings, or draw their wings in and crouch." While this is a highly cropped photo, I'm sure the nest was nearby and this behavior was directed at us. After a couple displays we moved on.
Look at that, I'm actually uploading a model to Flickr in a timely fashion! I've been making a new ship from Picard every week while S3 is airing, and this week's is the SS Eleos from S3. A small ship, but she has a ton of character and I'm really happy to finally see this design on screen (John Eaves designed it for the original Star Trek Online a long time ago, and has tried to include it in some form in almost every project he's worked on since then).

Even an ugly ship wreck belched up from the belly of the sea can look beautiful under the right set of circumstances. All of the conditions and elements for making this image memorable were present at this moment (sun, fog, wet sand, surf, scenic background and reflections of both the wrecked sail boat and the shimmering sun in the wet sand). I'm delighted with the way this image and several others in the set turned out.
Nikon D60 Tamron 18-250 mm lens. Focal length 35 mm Exposed at 1/200 of a second at f7.1 ISO 100. As shot in the camera. No HDR or Photoshop and only some very minor post processing with Picnik to control the contrast level.
