Photograph taken at an altitude of Forty five metres at 13:23pm on an overcast summer afternoon on Tuesday 20th July 2021, off Chessington Avenue in Bexleyheath, Kent.
Here we see a juvenile Carrion crow (Corvus corone), ever the inquisitive little thing, a passerine bird of the family Corvidae and the genus Raven (Higher classification: Corvus), which is native to western Europe and eastern Asia. It can grow to twenty inches in length with a wingspan of up to thirty nine inches. This one keeps the magpie's and Jackdaw's in their place, as top of the food chain, afraid of nothing.They can reach a length of 47cm with a 104cm wingspan and a weight of up to 650g, and in the UK they are in the Green conservation list status with over one million breeding territories.

[This set contains 8 photos] The J. Sidna Allen house (1911) in Fancy Gap, Virginia is a timber frame one-and-a-half-story Queen Anne on a brick foundation. Diamond-shaped shingles cover the upper portion of the building, and ornamental wood trim abounds. It has a cross-gable slate roof intersected by dormer windows and a hexagonal tower capped by a cone. The roof line is complex as a result of the dormers and tower. The Eastlake brackets and scalloping in the cornices correspond to the brackets and flat drops of the porch (best seen in image #6). The front gable roof and front dormer roof ridges formerly had a pattern of iron cresting them, which I assume will appear on the restored structure. There are two exterior brick chimneys and an interior one, each capped with a stone course, four stone insets and corbelled brickwork at the top.
The porch has a shed roof with shingles, brackets and scalloping; at one corner is a gazebo with a conical slate roof and a banquet of wood decoration. Above the front entrance, and connected to a door in the tower, was a balcony (missing at this time in the restoration process). The porch support columns and turned balusters are also currently missing. A small side porch on one side of the house shows a similar pattern of decoration. The entrance has sidelights and a rectangular transom. The molded trim, simulating piers, occurs as window surrounds as well. Most of the windows are temporarily covered: they originally were stained or leaded, many with intricate patterns. Some were 3-part, showing a classical Palladian influence. Some were decorated with a border of smaller colored panes in Queen Anne-style.
Steps led from the road up the hill to the front porch; at present, they are not there. It's easy to see the beauty of this home, even in its pre-restoration state by the Carroll County Historical Society. Architecturally significant, the J. Sidna Allen House was placed on the National Register of Historic Places July 15, 1974 with ID # 74002112
Allen and his wife, who designed their own home, enjoyed it for about a year before the state of Virgnia confiscated the property. Then occurred the Hillsville Massacre of 1912 involving the Allen family in a melee where the judge and some county officials were killed. Sidna Allen was sentenced to life imprisonment; two members of his family were executed. This Thirty seconds long exposure was taken at an altitude of Five metres, in the golden hour around sunrise at 07:02am on Wednesday 25th September 2019 around sunrise off 1st Street and Bevan Avenue, between the boat jetty and Bevan Avenue Fishing Pier in beautiful Sidney by the sea on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada.
The Bevan Avenue fishing pier is one of the main focal points in Sidney, and Work commenced on the pier in 1993 with Phase one, a 90 metre straight section being completed in 1996. A year later the 110 metre Phase two section was completed.

Photograph taken at an altitude of Three hundred and fifty metres, at 14:45pm on Wednesday 11th September 2019 off Island Parkway in the grounds of McArthur Island Park, located on the North bank of the Thompson River in Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada.
The Yellow-bellied marmot (Marmota flaviventris) is a large ground squirrel, also known as the rock chuck, one of fourteen species of marmots native to mountainous regions of Southwestern Canada and Western United States. Adults can weigh up to 5kgs. They are diurnal and hibernate from late September for approximately eight months each year.

Photograph taken at 10.26am on Wednesday 10th April 2024 at an altitude of Forty nine metres in the Grounds of Warnham Nature Reserve in Horsham, West Sussex.
Here we see a two male and one female Mallard Ducks eating seed from a tree stump. Mallards are dabbling ducks which breed all over temperate and sub tropical Americas, Eurasia and North Africa as well as New zealand and a host of other territories. Belonging to the waterfowl family, the males or drakes are particularly beautiful with glossy green heads and bright yellow beaks.

The remains of the Minister of Highways and Road Development and Chief Government Whip Jeyaraj Fernandopulle was taken to the Parliament complex this morning at 10.30 AM to enable his colleagues to pay their last respects.
Earlier in the day, President Mahinda Rajapakse, paid his last respect to the slain Minister at his Torrington residence and later attended the Parliament ceremony where the mortal remains of Jeyaraj Fernandopulle was kept to enable his parliamentary colleagues to pay their last respect. Yesterday, in his statement President condemned the killing of Jeyaraj Fernandopulle. He said, "I emphatically and unequivocally condemn the cowardly assassination of Mr. Jeyaraj Fernandopulle, Minister of Highways and Road Construction and Chief Government Whip, by the terrorists of the LTTE, earlier today." (06 April).Sri Lanka President being received by Mrs Fernandopulle and children when he arrived at the Torrington residence of Minsiter Jeyaraj Fernandopulle.
He also pointed out, "Minister Jeyaraj Fernandopulle was a popular representative of the people, elected by the voters of Gampaha District at several elections. The assassination of such a committed democrat once again shows the total contempt of the LTTE to the democratic process, and its unquestioned commitment to violence and terror to achieve it narrow and limited objectives, that are far removed from the interests of the Tamil people of Sri Lanka."At the Parliament

Minister Fernandopulle entered the Parliament in 1983 representing Gampaha district. A lawyer by profession, the late Minister was a fluent speaker in Sinhalese, Tamil and English.
During his career, he held many ministerial portfolios including, the Minster of Catholic Affairs, Minister of Ethnic Concession and National Unity, Minister of Port and Aviation, and Minister of Highways and Road Development.
He had also been appointed the UPFA organizer for the Trincomalee District for the forthcoming provincial council elections in the East.

The Cocke-Morris house was built about 1850 by Dr. Charles Cary Cocke (a son of John Hartwell Cocke). The house is also known as the Bridge Keeper’s House (also as the Gate Keeper’s House), information found on a plaque near the rear of the side of the house. Located near the one-time James River-Kanawha Canal, it is today quite near the James River. The home is in Bremo Bluff, Fluvanna County, Virginia. I believe at one time it had been used as a bed-and-breakfast. It was also once called the Downing House because Cocke’s home was in the style of cottages designed by Andrew Jackson Downing books as Cottage Residences (1842) archive.org/details/cottageresidence00downrich and The Architecture of Country Houses (1851) archive.org/details/architectureofco00down
The white wood structure with pale blue trim is a beautiful example of Gothic Revival (Carpenter Gothic) in domestic architecture. The house is 2 1/2 stories with basement and is sited on a hillside, which increases the functionality of its basement. The steep-pitched shingle roof, the prominent front and side gables, and the use of board-and-batten siding all accentuate the verticality of the structure. A short front gable connects to a longer cross gable, both with bargeboards with an understated decorative fringe. The chimney is internal, 3 stacks in a single group, positioned asymmetrically to the roof alignment (image 8). As if to demarcate the roof from the external walls, a slender wood strip runs across both gables at roofline. The front gable houses a rectangular vent and the side gable a squat window with pointed arch. The front façade is symmetrical with bays to either side of the centrally positioned entrance. The porch has a low-pitched roof supported by slender posts. Enclosing the porch area are railings of thin square posts. Oddly there is no ornamentation or embellishment in this portion of the home. Windows throughout are mixed in terms of panes, although the molding seems uniform, even in the rear section where the windows occur in pairs. The foundation appears to be stone except in the rear which looks like cinder block, an indication that the rear was perhaps an addition. This is one of my very favorite of all houses I’ve seen. Online information on this house is sparse. It’s not in the list of National Register sites for Fluvanna County. Here we see a group of feral Pigeons (Columba Livia domestica), resting on a branch in a prime location close to the lake within the park grounds. It is a relative of a relative of Stock doves and Rock Doves which are the purest of the species.

Photograph taken at an altitude of Twelve metres, at 12:58pm on Monday 4th November 2019, off Hyde Park Corner and Park Lane A4202 in the grounds of Hyde park, a Grade 1 listed Royal Park (the largest of) of London.
Spanning an area of 350 acres, the park is divided by the Serpentine and the Long water lakes, and was created by King Henry VIII in 1536 as hunting ground. It opened to the public in 1637 and was extensively improved under Queen Caroline in the early Eighteenth century. The Great exhibition for which the Crystal Palace was erected, designed by Joseph Paxton, was also held here.
